Here’s a Kerry vs. Bush Comparison Chart I’m working on. Take a look at it and add more comparisons.

Reader Comments

Here’s a suggestion:
how about linking to specific webpages to back up each statement?-preferably ones with as little bias as possible. It would be a great tool to point the uninformed towards.

one resource like that could be vote-smart.org which seems to be thorough on people from both parties.

You know I really do want to vote for Kerry, but when I see information like the lies that are presented as “facts” in this chart, it keeps pushing me back into the Bush camp.

Fact, Kerry has not stated he will create a budget surplus. He said he would cut deficit spending in half.

Fact, Bush was not a Draft Dodger. (Yes, guard service is 2nd tier service, but not the same as dodging the draft.)

Fact, the Bush family is NOT in business with “Saudi Royals”. Despite Michael Moores movie claims this has been fully researched and the truth is that Mr. Moore and Mr. Perkel are simply wrong.

I tend to think Kerry is the better choice, but when shit of this nature is floated I can’t help but wonder if what I think I know of Kerry is as much crap as we see in this chart.

What is Kerry’s position on media consolidation?

—-the truth is that Mr. Moore and Mr. Perkel are simply wrong

trytogetreal, why do you bother coming here if you think this? Do you really think YOU are going to change people’s minds here? Go back to watching your fox news.

Their wrong? micheal moore has stated that he will pay someone 10,000 if there are any lies in his movie, If I were you I would go for it, but the chances that you can proove it are slim.

Mr. Spock, you’re obviously struggling with your illogical human side. TryToGetReal said he wants to vote for Kerry but is annoyed by the lack of accurate and unbiased accounts of facts. And yet your response is “go back to watching your Fox news”. That’s not exactly the most useful approach to have with people who are sitting on the political fence. :/

For the record, I’m going to vote for Kerry, but Michael Moore pisses me off. I find him self-aggrandizing, which makes me suspect of his presentation of the facts.

When both sides are using smoke and mirrors, it’s hard to know whether one is electing a president as an informed citizen or being manipulated by one side or the other through disinformation. Accepting news slanted only toward the side one already agrees with doesn’t make one informed (whatever side one’s on).

Shadow-Hawk, unfortunately neither Bush nor Kerry have provided information via the National Political Awareness Test (NPAT) to Project Vote Smart (makes it a bit more difficult to vote smart). Kerry’s voting record is there, though, as are Bush’s and Kerry’s speeches and public statements. Those could be helpful.

Well Josh, Someone took Mike Moore up on his challenge. It turns out that the Bloomington-Normal newspaper (Il.) is suing him for changing their front page headline in their movie.

If Rush is a Big Fat Idiot, Moore is a Big Fat Liar.

Suggestion: add material to the table concerning Bush’s disastrous lack of stewardship of the environment. There are innumerable sources concerning this topic including “The Ungreening of America”.

X, trytogetreal stated that bush didnt have any connections in the saudi royal family. That was what i was telling him to challenge micheal moore to. I searched the pantagraph.com, hoping to find anything about the sueing, umm nothing i tried both micheal moore in the search and the movie. I would think somthing like that would be big news, them suing. If you have any links to articles or anything, please send them to me.

I can vouch for one thing… the Canadian newspapers generally like Kerry way more than Bush.

And I also know that there are many Canadians that perferred Bill Clinton over George Bush senior or junior.

I was watching President Bush’s press conference today at the rose garden, and it is still hard for me to believe that the president of the United States, the highest office in the land is so incompetent. He calls the reporter to ask his question, and he obviously knows what the question is. You can tell that he has the answers in front of him because he looks down anytime he forgets his rehearsed answers. He never really answers any of the hard questions, but gives a superficial answer and the white house press corps accept it. I just can’t understand how GOPs can respect a man like that.

Cliff, he’s the front man for the real people in charge. They respect him in person, but probably crack jokes behine his back… I don’t understand why the media does not do their job. They need to grow some balls.

Umm, excuse me sir but last time I checked none of those points would point anyone in the direction of bush. Here it is, bush sucks, in everyway you look at it, and if you don’t see that then that list is goin to look like this to you

hippie hippie hippie
hippie hippie hippie
hippie hippie hippie

I have came to the conclusion that the only reason someone would vote for bush is because they are too much of a pussy to say that they were wrong for voting for him in the first place. Or there family has grained republican in their skull since a little baby, thus making them vote republican everytime even though they have no reason to. Then there is religion, my advice is, its more important that your family lives 2mro then if you local priests gets his way with a 4 year old boy.

Hey Josh, you’re right about that grained since childbirth thing. My mother-n-law is a republican, even though i have give her proof that the neo-cons are agaist women have any sort of right. they want to blow women back to the 50s. but she’ll still vote republican. and you’re right about that hippie hippie thing. you forgot another important point: i’ve noticed that the majority of male repulicans, at least the ones that i know, have little respect for woman and are religous zealots. to the moon, alice.. sheeesh…

Here’s a couple for you, marc, old chap:

Tax relief for ALL Americans

Increase military pay rates

You have yourself a nice little website here. I’m glad I surfed on in. I quite enjoy a circle-jerk of this nature. When you kids grow your sack a little, join the big league for some open debate. Its quite simple, really. Head on down to the closest military base and start running your suck muscle about all the lame ideas you can come up with about why you hate the president and the military. Talk about how the Great War Hero, Mr. Flip Flop will make things better for your fat lazy asses. Make sure you mention your lack of military service and your hard-on for unsubstantiated misrepresentations of the truth. If those words are too big, http://www.dictionary.com. Pull your head out of your ass, marc, before you wake up to a communist America being sold out by the Kennedys, Clintons and John Kerry.

OK, Mr. Dipshit, no one here hates the military, We hate the leaders who run the military, if you can’t see that then why don’t you go down there and join the orgy of iraq’s at abu graib at your own free will. Seconed of all, Mr. Flip Flop? Seriously if thats the only thing the bush campain can run off of they are so screwed, name calling and distorted truths never win in the outcome. If you haven’t noticed BUSH HAS BEEN BORROWING MONEY FROM CHINA, WHICH = COMMUNIST. so it really makes no since for you to say they will sell out to communist’s when this president already has.

To M. Wills. You know what I have done? I no longer get into debates about Bush with other sheep. I have some printed material WITH references and give them to anyone who questions me bashing Bush for the idiot he is. Then I say to them “Read this. If you have proof that the info facts are wrong, then bring them to me and I will listen to you.” So far, no takers. They’ll just storm off and call me a liberal… Yeah, name calling always wins the debate…

Reading these comments would lead any intelligent independent person to conclude we have two idiots running. The only clear, present and correct action is to elect me president. So what are you all waiting for???

If each of you tells 7 others to write my name in, and if they then tell 7 others to do the same, and so on and so forth…

“p.s. What is wrong with higher pay rates for the armed forces, they do their job well, why not earn more money?”

To M. Wills: Critical thinking is part of formal debate. So far, all you have done here is repeat the lies spoken by others like you. I will enlighten you by letting you know that Mr. Bush raised military pay every six months for the first two years and has averaged 7.6% every year. Compare this to Mr. Clinton’s pay raises which averaged 3.2% over his eight years. My family felt the strain of the Clinton years and we appreciate lower taxes and higher pay provided by the Bush administration. For Mr. Chingas: Feel free to look it up here, sir. You will find that I have presented the facts quite accurately.

“SLIDING DOLLAR’S FATE MAY BE DECIDED IN ASIA,”
THE TOP FOREIGN INVESTOR THAT HAS BEGUN A PULLBACK FROM U.S. ASSETS,
warns the Wall Street Journal. Japanese, Chinese, and other Asians collectively, have become the largest overseas investors in U.S. securities, in terms of net new money pumped into U.S. stocks and bonds.
Last year, Asians accounted for 40% of the foreign-investment flows into the U.S., counterbalancing Europe’s
pullback, and ensuring a gradual decline in the U.S. dollar. Through October 2002, European investors bought a net $152 billion in U.S. securities — down 35% from the same period a year earlier. Moreover, they turned net sellers over the 10-month period, for the first time since 1993.

At the same time, Asian investors increased their purchases of U.S. securities, mainly Treasury and Federal agency bonds, to a net $156 billion (Jan.-Oct. 2002), from about $47 billion per year during the 1990s.
Now, the concern is, how much longer can the Asian support last? Asian central bankers are beginning to move into other currencies, especially the euro, — and into gold, whose price has jumped by 31% since Sept. 11, 2001. In November, Japanese investors, for example, bought $5.3 billion of U.S. securities
and $9.1 billion of European securities — after having favored U.S. over European assets by nearly 6:1 during the first 10 months of 2002. “If Asians pull back from investing in the U.S., there isn’t
much else to support the dollar,” warns an economist at Morgan Stanley.

ok DAN HOMOANALTAKER, clinton didn’t run on a war election and he didnt promote war, so why raise spending and costs for the war if you don’t want one.

That’s fine and dandy Dan, but explain to me why Bush cut the veterans benefits, which I am one, USMC. I have medical problems stemmed from the Gulf War. More than once have I been told that my Vet bennies have changed. Also, explain to me why Bush keeps refusing to fund his No Child Left Behind. He’s cut funding for both vet bennies and education. Explain to me why he does that. If I’m wrong, prove me wrong. Prove to me that Bush has helped the economoy and has created millions of jobs and is working on cutting the deficit. Prove to me that he cares more about normal Americans than rich Americans or oil companies. Prove to me that he was elected and not selected. And if you think you have all the answers Dan, why don’t you have a debate with Mr. Bartcop at Bartcop.com. I dare. I quadriple DOG dare you. But most likely you’ll say that it will be a waste of your time. I’d do it myself, but he has a better grasp on the facts that I do… Raising a family and all…

Rumormill News? I’m sure Rosalinda has ALL her facts lined up… yeah… Now I know you are minor league. Get with the program, Gilligan.

Chingas: Look man, I work with MC divers every day. I got no problems with the Marine divers I work with — we’re not common air breathers. I don’t know you or what kind of Marine you are. You are asking me to prove, but where are your facts? I don’t think you really care for the facts — seems to me that your mind is already made up. Here goes anyway…

1. Bush admin. raised the VA co-pay from $2 to $7. Point – Chingas
2. Clinton, in 1995, decided to rescind a promise of free lifetime health care benefits for soldiers, who from 1941 to 1956 had been told they and their dependents would get free care. You won’t hear that on CNN. The VA is angry with Bush for not stepping into the legal fray and the case is tied up in US Court of Appeals. Bush is guilty of letting the DAV, VFW and American Legion plead their case and not interfering – yet.
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1222-01.htm
Point – Dan
3. Bush signed H.R. 2297, the Veterans Benefits Act of 2003. Look it up if you want. Point – Dan
http://www.vba.va.gov/ro/south/spete/news/notes/0401/1.htm
4. Bush’s tax cut was for EVERYONE — that is all Americans. Are you so angry at the rich man that you think he should be penalized? Do you realize that the rich of our country provide jobs for everyone else? You know, the Democrats are always talking about two Americas and polarization… Taxing the rich and not taxing everyone else is just stupid — and I’m not rich. Why penalize someone for their hard work and success?

5. I don’t profess to have all the answers, but I will tell you that you should be practicing what you preach by taking the time to prove your own views, because right now, YOU are looking like the mutton you keep talking about.

Bartcop.com was just added to my favorites. Good luck with your family, Chingas. Open up you eyes, man. These kids on this site here are as clueless as a soup sandwich.

I really wouldnt say “Why penalize someone for their hard work and success?” because most rich people got lucky, or had a relative die and gain most of the money. Why not penalize them? the reason they are rich is because they don’t spend there money.(yes there are few that get more money in one hour than they can spend, but those are the people that wont even feel a tax cut what so ever) But most millionares just keep on getting money, also most of them that created business’s have moved to a foriegn country for underpaid work, or because the healthcare is affordable.

I really don’t think it matters how much you pay veterens when they are all going to be dead because of these stupid pre-analrape wars. I heard somthing about the draft, I doubt it. But when it gets that bad that there is talk of a draft you know these wars are stupid. “war on terroism” is a fragment itself you can’t have war on a tactic.

The reason clinton didnt raise benifits for any military person, is because clinton wanted technology to rain, he didn’t want to send troops over when he didn’t HAVE to, so why raise pay for someone who is not doing anything at the moment? And there is no plan on doing anything because he didn’t have an agenda to take out saddam.

Written By Joshua Gillogly on August 12th, 2004 @ 5:18 am

Gillogly:

You have not done your homework.

“I really wouldnt say “Why penalize someone for their hard work and success?” because most rich people got lucky, or had a relative die and gain most of the money.”

You just described Teresa Heinz and John Kerry after they were married. To continue this description:

“But most millionares just keep on getting money, also most of them that created business’s have moved to a foriegn country for underpaid work, or because the healthcare is affordable.”

You just described the Heinz corporation.

“I really don’t think it matters how much you pay veterens when they are all going to be dead because of these stupid pre-analrape wars.”

VETERANS. Joshua, you were born free, in a country that allows you to speak your mind and misrepresent all the facts you want. You can assemble freely and whine about all the problems that government has caused you with impunity. You have many more freedoms which you are allowed exercise, more than any other country in the world — and when it comes to simple respect for the veterans who fought and died so you could have them, you say some shit like that? I am not a telephone tough guy, but if someone like you were to say that to my face, I would mop the floor with your ass — and I KNOW Chingas will agree with me on this one. You need to get a clue. As for Clinton’s agenda:

“One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”
– President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
– President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

“And there is no plan on doing anything because he didn’t have an agenda to take out saddam.”
– Joshua Gillogly, August 12, 2004

You really need to study up Joshua. Repeating what you’ve heard or what you think doesn’t compare to accurate facts and evidence.

Hmm, so you and chingas faught a pre-analrape war?, so far there has only been one, and neither of you have talked about it. Its called the 2nd iraq war.

I respect veterans all around. I just don’t show them the respect that many of them think they need to have, there hasnt been a draft since veitnam, so it was there choice to serve, like you said freedom in this country.

Clinton also didnt take us to war with saddam, and im pretty sure if he would have he would have taken diplomatic pressure till it was completely exhausted.

also im not defending saddam, Im just wondering why attack him before attacking another country that we know has WMD and we know can pose a threat to us IE iran, IE north korea. Or if we cared about the people we would attack the warlords in afirca right now.

yes, joshua, i have fought in a pre-analrape war. i was gung ho, i get to kill people, blow up things. saddam is a bad man… i found out the truth years ago: saddam was given the go ahead by the bush admin to annex kuwait.. the UN knew, everyone knew… no one stepped in to stop him. now look. over 1000 of our guys dead, thousands injured and marred for life. did you know that there are more dead than mentioned? once a person is moved from the battlefield, it is not considered a combat casualty. so, once the body is lifted off the ground, then that body dies, guess what? not a combat/battlefield casualyt. this war sickens me… the lies that led us to it, the lies that continue. let the sheep come here and try to set us straight… ditto monkeys, bushies, religious psychos… there are those whoe can think and make up their own mind and then there are republicans… bring it on…. and joshua, i do agree with you. why now? why not north korea? or pakistan? or one of the other stans? they’re next, the other stans… they too have oil… it’s all about power, oil, greed… they just want to be on the team that’s seems to be winning. i would like to see what they have to say after america is no longer a democracy…

Many of you do not understand that the war against iraq is a GOOD thing. Having a brother who is a part of the Army Rangers in Iraq whom i talk to on a regualar basis, I understand more than what the nation is told. The Iraqi’s WANT them there they are glad they are there. As well as those fighting, they are proud to be fighting. I know 14 Rangers in Iraq Mike, and EVERY ONE OF THEM WANTS BUSH OUT for the crap he has pulled and his incompetence that has led to them being in a foreign country where their buddies are dying on a daily basis BECAUSE OF THE REPUBLICAN BUSH. There were never any WMD, yet he told the world there were. The UN and world opinion wanted to let the arms inspectors do their job… no, sorry, but your idiot cowboy BUSH decides to not only detract our attention from the U.S. economy going in the toilet, jobs going overseas, unemployment rising, tax breaks to wealthy and big money by going to WAR WITHOUT SUPPORT FROM THE WORLD OPINION. Sure, one dictator is now out of power, but AT WHAT COST??? AMERICAN LIVES? IRAQI LIVES? TERRORIST HITS HERE AT HOME? This madness will not end until the “INGRAINED” Republicans can pull their heads out and get the freaking blinders off and LOOK AT ALL THE WRONG that is brought about by BUSH and the Republicans. No, I’m not a Democrat, and I have voted Republican before, but after seeing the insane amount of mismanagement by our supposed commander in chief, I want no more part. I support him because he is our current figurehead, but I don’t have to like what he is, stands for, or the problems he has to be unleashed on our great country.

Do us all a favor, read, research, and you will hopefully see the light, that the current administration will run us into the ground.

It is time for a change, and it needs to be at this election.
