Now Keyes is the Carpetbagger

Letter to the Editor

Alan Keyes will run for US Senate in Illinois where he has never lived. Keyes once called Hillary Clinton a carpetbagger for running for Senate in New York is now doing the same thing.

Amazingly how these Republicans flip flop when it works to their favor.

The Keyes candidacy raises questions about the race factor. Keyes is strongly against affirmative action and any race based preferences. So it makes you wonder why he doesn’t have a problem with the GOP picking him because he’s black.

Anyhow – I’m predicting that an African American will win this senate seat – and by African American I’m talking about someone who actually comes from Africa.

Reader Comments

They’ll do anything to win, just throw some names around and they get what they want(Arnold, GWB, Reagan, George Allen to name just a few). Are Dennis Miller and Toby Keith planning on running?

Well, the party should always try to find the best candidate that they can. A lot of conservatives had no reason to vote in Illinois this November. That has now changed. As all things can change. Keyes will ignite the Illinois conservatives. This campaign will be about nothing other than the ideals of liberalism and conservatism. A race based on nothing other than ideology. As a registered Democrat who has run for elective office twice I have already made up my mind … I AM VOTING FOR ALAN KEYES!

Fight fire with Fire. GOP: “Our nigger’s better than your nigger.” And before anyone get’s all bunched up about that word, as soon as the GOP stops using that word, so shall I. And for the record, being of Mexican descent, I have experienced A LOT of prejudice. So I know what it’s like to be called names. The latest one is “Liberal”. And X, I don’t think this race is about ideals. If it were, the GOP would not be scrambling to find someone to beat Obama. Instead of focusing on beating Osama, they’re focusing their energy of beatin Obama. Now, tell me X, what’s for important, and election race, or the safety of this country? Oh, I forgot, the pResident himself said that Osama is no longer an issue, he’s not important…

Mr. Obama is NOT from Africa. He was born here in the US of an African (black)father/American (white) mother. His father left his family here when Mr. Obama was two years old and returned to Africa leaving Obama to be raised by his mother and her parents. All that said, he is still an inspiration because he overcame his own personal failings and through hard work, education and the ‘American Dream’ now will become soon the only African-American (albeit half black/half white)in the US Senate. This is a good thing simply because he deserves it…

Hey Chingas, were you aware that the Republican party was established to abolish slavery? It is the party of Lincoln. Tell me which Republican has ever discriminated against you? How about this one… Which Democratic gubenatorial candidate from Louisiana was a member of the KKK? David Duke almost won! How about a Democratic senator who was a former active member of the KKK? That’s right — Robert K. Byrd. Look, just because Republicans are against affirmative action and want to change welfare, doesn’t mean that they are discriminating against anyone — why give anyone a handout when what people really need is a hand up. I’ve seen more hate-mongers on the Democrats’ side than on the GOP. Here’s a prime example: Jennifer Carroll http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/representative_detail.aspx?id=4331 I heard her speak last month and was educated. Did you know that Jeb Bush is fluent in Spanish? Why would anyone who discriminates take the time to study the language, man? Think about it…

You are right Josh. The Democratic Party is nothing but “Poverty Pimps”. It was the Republicans that freed the slaves, and forced the creed that all men are created equal. The New Deal help bring working class people the “Hand Up” that you speak. It worked so well, that the working class people started to feel like Republicans. The Democrats “Last ditch effort” to hold on to power was the “welfare state”. Their thought was … “if we could convince people that they are “Entitled” to something and are being cheated out of it, maybe, just maybe, they will vote for us if we promise them that we can deliver that entitlement.”

Chingas, this race sure isn’t going to be about race. Living here in Illinois, I can tell you all I care about is the ideology of the candidate, and I am a conservative. I can assure you that Obama knows that it is about ideology as he has just “back-peddled” off his offer of six debates … because the offer of six debates was not open to people who are not from Illinois.

wow, you really told me… yeah wills, spanish is a requirement is high school. why would anyone study it? maybe cuz they had to? french, spanish, german in some schools. a foreign language is a basic requirement. and yes, i do know that the repubs are the ones that abolished slavery. but, if you read my other post, i don’t like democrats either. to me, they are all in the same boat. politics did not interest my until bush came into power. i researched all that was being said about him and found most to be true. i also researched past presidents, and it seems to be that today’s republicans no longer stand for their party’s values. just look at regean and both bushes.

what seemed odd to me is that the gop was have a hard time looking for someone to run against obama. now, if keyes was is such a great person for the job, why did they not choose him to begin with? why wait until they’ve gone through every white male that they could find? explain that. seems a bit racists to me… black man against black man… if they can’t have that seat, they turn the community against each other… that’s my two cents. bring it on…

Lincoln yes freed slaves, but it was because he had to, he didn’t want a backlash of angry black men without control. Licoln OWND a slaves, and he was known to force them to have sex with him. Licoln also promised black people 40 acres and a mule, that promise has fadeded away since.

Democrates are more pro-Unity then the republicans could ever be. Affirmitive action, Civil unions for all, They are the ones who pulled everyone together during the civil rights era, with JFK. It was republican trash who created the KKK and the NRA, which both go hand-in-hand. Both parties have been affiliated with the KKK 100 years ago, the last 100 years more democrates have voted for equal rights issues than any republican.

If you want to know the truth, I don’t agree with the GOP throwing Keyes into the race at all. I’m a conservative Republican. I can tell you that you can ignore the facts all day and you will believe what you want at the end of the day. Lets clear this up: Lingual fluency is different than studying a required language in school. You have to take the time to learn how to speak a second language fluently, besides — Jeb Bush’s wife is Latina.
All that crap about affirmative action is propaganda brought about by the Democratic party; just like X-FREEPER said, its all part of the “welfare state.” Affirmative action lowers standards in the workplace under the guise of diversity. I say that if you work harder and smarter, you will still get ahead in this country — no matter what your race or gender is. For America to remain competitive in the world market, we’ve got to let go of antiquated ideals like affirmative action and labor unions. Civil unions are good watchdogs, but they bring about too many frivolous lawsuits. And in case you hadn’t noticed, Obama and the Dems are pulling the race card just like the GOP w/Keyes on this one.

Joshua Gillogly,

Where did you hear that Lincoln HAD to free the slaves? Also where did you get the idea that he forced anyone to have sex with him??? Do you realize that you are speaking of a former President of the United States? Do you not owe him some respect? Consider learning the facts before you post. Here is a great site for you to look at. http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/al16.html

Are you aware that the ACLU supports a group that is for having sex with children who are ages 8 and up??? Do you think that someone who is age 8 should be having sex with an adult? How is that pro-unity?

By the way, the KKK was invented by individuals, not a party. “The Klan began in 1866-7 and was “founded” by 6 young men, veterans of the Confederate cause, but whose motives were unclear: whether it was some kind of racist joke or a true racist group. In 1869, Grand Wizard Nathan B. Forrest* disbanded the organization because it had become uncontrollable. It wasn’t until 1915 (well after Pike’s death in 1891) that the Klan in its second form reappeared. That group was bankrupted by the U. S. Government in the 1940s and the racist group which exists today has only the connection of a name similarity to the original group.” More information about this can be found at http://www.masonicinfo.com/kkk.htm.

I may post more about this later, but I think I have made my point loud and clear. However, for those who are unable to understand let me reiterate. You do not have to be educated about an issue to argue it…

Josh, settle down a little bit. When a guy post a pointless post, it is okay to point out that he has made no point. But, you need not point out their lack of ability when it comes to grammar and spelling. I ran for political office twice. The first time that I ran I was the highest Democratic vote getter in the history of the township. This scared the crap out of the Republicans, a no-name ran a five week campaign and almost beat us. The next election the Republicans had my name removed from the ballot forcing me to run a write in campaign … I did not have a chance, for the law stated that my name had to be spelled correctly. 80% of the Democrats who attempted to vote for me had their votes thrown out because they could not spell my name correctly.

Why is that when the city of Boston wanted to higher someone to run their schools they turned to the state of Illinois to hire Paul Vallas. Was there nobody in Boston who was qualified to run the schools? Why does any company or government body hire people from outside their geographical boundaries. Is it because the geogrphical boundary offers no qualified people? Did New York turn to Hillary Clinton because New York had no qualified people? I think not. It is for no other reason than you are looking for the person who can best complete the task at hand.

“FACTS: Truman (Democrat) dropped the first and only 2 atomic WMDs ever used on two major cities AND started the Korean War. JFK and Johnson (Democrats) started and continued the Vietnam War. Now when Clinton has a US warship blown up, he does NOTHING. ”

Truman: was a moderate, he ended ww2, and he ignored Ho Chi because he wanted to strengthen relations with the french.

JFK: didn’t start the war, he had missions there but he didnt ‘start’ it. JFK was the leader who delt with the cuba missle crises too, might i add very well.

LBJ: didn’t run for a seconed term because of the war, he didn’t want the war it was somthing that he just couldnt control.

OK, now lets talk about your great republicans.

Nixon: watergate affair, lost the veitnam war, and was a down right crook.

Reagon: iran contra scandal, failed reaganomics, failed tax cuts. used the USSR to boast his reputation, for no reason.

Bush Sr.: started the first iraq war, by giving saddam the gas missles he used to kill the kurds. Started bad oil relations with the saudi’s.

Bush Jr.: started the 2nd Iraq war, Failed to catch osama, uses christ and the christian religion as a crutch to get what he wants. puppet to dick cheney.

I by no means think that just black individuals have a tendancy to dress as if they were thugs, it is just a more often case. I know plenty of Hispanics dress as if they are fixing to rob a bank.

i am a professional in the tech industry, so you guess how i am dressed. and for the record, mexicans are not hispanics. hispanic is the english translation of hispano. it is a word utilized by opportunistic white cubans who hoped to create a false euro-centric power base by lumping together all spanish speaking people into an artificially created ethnic group. This would afford the white cubans the opportunity to have their own little “ethnic population” which they could then represent, manipulate and use to advance their own eurocentric desires. what is hispano? hispano is a roman word used to describe a white person from spain. its stems from the roman word “hispania,” which was used by the phoenicians to identify the lands now known as spain and portugal. am i a latino? by all means, no. latinos are white people from southern europe, they include the roman, italian, french and spanish people. latino is also a word used by ixachilankah to describe white Europeans in central and south ixachilan. ixachilan (ee-shah-chee-lahn) is the original nawatl word for the western hemisphere – the “american” continents. educate yourself before you go around calling any mexican an hispano. ‘but that’s what you’ve been called for years…” yes, it’s a form of ethnic cleansing. lump people into one pot, prevent them from have any identity… and just for you: FUCK OFF! hey, i used my shift key. if you look at my earlier post, you should have picked up on something. a little present for you. btw, it’s in another subject. hee hee

mexican is a racial slur? u stupid as bitch. mexican is the name of the people from the valley of mexcio, originally called mexikah, the state of the aztecs. racial slur. that just comes to show how ignorant of a sheep you are… HISPANIC is a racial slur. what part of lumping all spanish people into one group? what, only white folk can have ancestors or culture? oh, i’m swedish, i’m german. but NOOOOO, if you’re from south america, your hispanic? central america, hispanic. again, you consider yourself educated? your nothinb but some empowered bitch who is probably have a bad marriage and comes and takes it out on people here. hispanic. racial slur… stupid ass bitch… was my ‘rant’ too much for you to understand? do some research, and don’t ever refer to me as hispanic. i find that to be a racial slur. i am first generation american and was raised as a mexican, the word hispanic was NEVER used in my family. and if you follow what the aclu say, you’re a sheep.. think for yourself, educate yourself and do some research. you just sound like another sheep… don’t you know that the gop wants to blast women back to the 50’s? why do men have viagra but women can’t get good healthcare? stupid ass white bitch, most likely…

Charlie,

I just dont want to get arrested because I refer to someone as a “mexican”, “red-neck” or other racial slur.

You should practice what you preach and not call people names. I am not a bitch, I am actually one of the nicest people in the world. I allow God’s love to shine through me. I am sorry that you can not be that way.

You say you were in the military, check with them… they will be happy to tell you what is and is not a racial slur. You can check the ACLU website all day but I am sure that they are not going to post details like what is and is not a racial slur. They are too busy trying to make it legal for old men to have sex with 8 year old boys.

Do you even know what the meaning of “racial slur” is? Obviously not because you are not using in the right context.

*smile* You are such a waste of my time… you dont want to know the truth, none of you. You just want to hear the lies. Good luck to you all. You make me sick with the lack of desire for education you have.

christian. figures. so you keep insisting that mexican is a racial slur? you can’t retort to any of my points, so all you can say is RANT RANT RANT… arrested for calling someone mexican? so, if mexican is a racial slur, then why don’t you start a petition that will force mexico to change the name of it’s country? do you even realize where that name came from, why the flag is the way it is? have you not learned anything from my points?

“You make me sick with the lack of desire for education you have.”

uhm, yeah. sure. you make yourself sick. you choose to be affected by my comments.. may the good lord will help you through this. let me guess, you’re going to school and a christian, so that makes you right? you are a bitch but it’s modern definition.

and i served in the marine corps. and I KNOW that mexican is not a racial slur. were you in the military? *smile*. i may be a waste of time, but with your, your mother should have swallowed… man, i love that comment… lol.. yeap, eyes luv name calling… until you learn that mexican is not a racial term but (see following link):

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=mexican

you will be an uneducated bitch that has yet to learn…

i challenge anyone to give me proof that mexican is a racial slur. and by doing so, will just make you racist. i bet 90% of white people don’t know the origin of the word mexican.. i tried to give jes some points on it, but refused to listen. stuck in her own logic. yeah, yeah, yeah jes, i’m stuck on my own logic.. but using christian logic, i’m right and you will burn in hell…

Lets start this POS!

“I just dont want to get arrested because I refer to someone as a “mexican”, “red-neck” or other racial slur.”

arrested? you got to relize that if you got arrested for that you would be one of the first in 2004, no one cares anymore even the cops they have better things to worry about.

“You should practice what you preach and not call people names. I am not a bitch, I am actually one of the nicest people in the world. I allow God’s love to shine through me. I am sorry that you can not be that way.”

Excuss me, but by calling your self the nicest person in the world doesn’t mean jack shit to anyone here, To us your not, and we notice how you like to boast about yourself.

Ok, God is not the truth. He is a religious role model. Until you can show me a picture and autograph, and his fingerprints then god will never be the truth.

Oh and the last time light shined threw me was with an X-ray.

“You say you were in the military, check with them… they will be happy to tell you what is and is not a racial slur. You can check the ACLU website all day but I am sure that they are not going to post details like what is and is not a racial slur. They are too busy trying to make it legal for old men to have sex with 8 year old boys. ”

Um, The last time I checked the military is used for protecting and serving the US not giving out what is and what is not a racial slur.

So your sayin the american civil liberties union tries to make it legal for men to have sex with 8 year old boys.

“Do you even know what the meaning of “racial slur” is? Obviously not because you are not using in the right context.”

Does a white christian know what a racial slur is besides whitie and cracker?

“*smile* You are such a waste of my time… you dont want to know the truth, none of you. You just want to hear the lies. Good luck to you all. You make me sick with the lack of desire for education you have.”

Darling, If we really were a waste of your time you would have never commented. Also by stating that you are contradicting youself.

By all of your comments you prove you don’t wish us luck, more like harm by the amount of bitchiness that comes from the aura of text and by how much of hate of you not taking us seriously. So this is yet again another contradicting of youself.

Yes we want to know the truth, but what you know is not the truth, so in turn you are contradicting yourself by giving us lies.

Here would be your correct statement.
*frown* You are not such a waste of my time… you want to know the truth, all of you. You just want to hear the truth. Bad luck to you all. You make me sick with the amount of desire for education you have.

Here’s a timeline for all you Alan Keyes fans. The Republican party has abandoned any of the principles of Abe Lincoln long ago.

1957 – Strom Thurmond sets the Senate’s filibuster record over a civil rights bill. The historic filibuster went on for 24 hours and 18 minutes

1963 – Conservative Governor George Wallace blocked the enrollment of African American students at the University of Alabama.

1964 – Democrat Johnson sponsors the Civil Rights Act of 1964 banning discrimination in public accommodations, education, and employment.
The 24th Amendment to the Constitution is passed, outlawing the poll tax.

Strom Thurmond switches to the Republican Party.

1966 – The first Black cabinet member,Robert C. Weaver, is named secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development by President Johnson.

1967 – Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice, is appointed to the Supreme Court by President Johnson.

1968 – President Lyndon Johnson’s Civil Rights Act of 1968 is signed into law, including nondiscriminatory housing measures.

1970 – Jimmy Carter elected Governor of Georgia. His term of office as governor, is best remembered for his efforts to relieve racial discrimination in Georgia.

1972 – After disagreeing with his party over race-related issues, Jesse Helms switched parties, sought the Republican nomination and won a narrow victory, becoming the first Republican ever to win a Senate race in North Carolina.

1980 – On Nov. 3, Rep. Trent Lott tells a home state political gathering that if the country had elected segregationist candidate Strom Thurmond to the presidency “30 years ago, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are today.”

1980 -1988 Ronald Reagan vetoed the sanctions against South Africa bill.

Tried to get a tax exemption for Bob Jones University, which was then a segregated college in South Carolina .

Defended former Sen. Jesse Helms’ “sincerity” when Helms questioned Martin Luther King’s patriotism.

Supported racism with remarks like those that characterized poor, black women as “welfare queens.”

Slashed important programs like the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) that provided needed assistance to Black people.

1982 – When the Reagan administration grudgingly supported reauthorization of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, Republican Jesse Helms waged war against the bill, introducing amendment after amendment—to exempt North Carolina counties from its provisions, to weaken the enforcement powers of the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice, to reduce the extension from 25 years to 15 years. All were defeated by overwhelming bipartisan majorities. Ultimately, Helms voted against final passage of a bill that even Strom Thurmond eventually supported.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s Helms was a leading backer of right-wing terrorist groups opposed to the regimes that he demonized: UNITA in Angola, the RENAMO guerrillas in Mozambique, the Contras in Nicaragua, the Afghan mujahedin. He gave full support to apartheid in South Africa and to military dictatorships in Central and South America.

When presented with evidence that Roberto D’Aubuisson, the US-backed death squad leader in El Salvador, was involved in atrocious human rights abuses, Helms responded, “All I know is that D’Aubuisson is a free enterprise man and deeply religious.” One peace activist who met with Helms staffers to describe the murders of Nicaraguan doctors, nurses and children by the Contras was told, “Well, they’re just communists—they deserve to die.”

1998 – In May, Trent Lott, a member of the Conservative Sons of the Confederacy, spoke at the dedication of the Jefferson Davis “Presidential Library” at Beauvoir, the former Davis estate in Biloxi, Miss., saying that “Sometimes I feel closer to Jefferson Davis than any other man in America”

2002 – Republican Senator Trent Lott says that if Strom Thurmond had been elected in 1948, “we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years either.”

US Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla), says God allowed terrorists to attack the US on September 11, when previously He would not have, because He is upset about the US’s Israel policy. (I just threw this one about in because it’s too stupid to believe.)

2004 – Pres. Bush, on July 9th, snubs NAACP, making him the first the first president since Herbert Hoover not to address its convention.

—And here’s what Republicans have said and done on record, regarding race—-

“And I want to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that there’s not enough troops in the Army to force the Southern people to break down segregation and admit the n____r race into our theatres, into our swimming pools, into our homes and into our churches.”—Strom Thurmond

Rep. Cass Ballenger (R-N.C.) told “The Charlotte Observer” that some of his constituents might empathize with Lott’s original sentiment about segregation.
He also said Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) once made him so angry that, “I must admit I had segregationist feelings.”

Trent Lott intervenes at the US Supreme Court to defend the tax-exempt status of Bob Jones University in South Carolina, under review because the school openly discriminates against any student “engaged in an interracial marriage or known to advocate interracial marriage or dating.”, saying “Racial discrimination does not always violate public policy.”

Lott votes against making the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a national holiday, saying “Look at the cost involved in the Martin Luther King holiday and the fact that we have not done it for a lot of other people that were more deserving.”

Delivers a keynote address to the Council of Conservative Citizens, the successor to the segregationist White Citizens’ Councils of the 1960s, saying “The people in this room stand for the right principles and the right philosophy. Let’s take it in the right direction, and our children will be the beneficiaries.”

The former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Haley Barbour, has appeared side-by-side with the Council of Concerned Citizens , a white racist hate group which is almost exclusively male and which is off-limits to blacks, jews, and other minorities.

Haley Barbour’s CCC friends oppose black voting rights and say “…negroes should not even be labeled as being in the same “nation” as Whites, much less should they be given any voting rights…” CCC writer George Crane

Haley Barbour’s friends in the all-white CCC wave confederate flags, espouse deporting blacks to Africa, claim the Holocaust was a hoax, oppose immigration of Asians, Latinos, and other minorities, have ties to the French neo-fascist Jean Marie Le Pen, and oppose the mixing of races which they call miscegenation. The CCC has filed an Amicus Brief in support of cross burning.

Haley Barbour’s friends include George Bush and Dick Cheney, who are shamelessly supporting Barbour’s campaign for Governor of Mississippi.

Bush’s grandfather also supported white racists — he financed the Nazis during WWII.

Once, in response to a caller arguing that black people need to be heard, Rush Limbaugh responded: “They are 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

On race relations in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Pat Buchanan wrote: “There were no politics to polarize us then, to magnify every slight. The ‘negroes’ of
Washington had their public schools, restaurants, bars, movie houses,
playgrounds and churches; and we had ours.” (Right from the Beginning,
Buchanan’s 1988 autobiography, p. 131

Trying to justify apartheid in South Africa, he denounced the notion
that “white rule of a black majority is inherently wrong. Where did we get
that idea? The Founding Fathers did not believe this.” (syndicated column,
2/7/90) He referred admiringly to the apartheid regime as the “Boer
Republic”: “Why are Americans collaborating in a U.N. conspiracy to ruin
her with sanctions?”(syndicated column, 9/17/89)

Buchanan challenged the historical record that thousands of Jews were gassed to death by diesel exhaust at Treblinka: “Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody.” (New Republic, 10/22/90)

Three rabbinical student David Kalb, Moshe Maoz, and Ronn Torossian were part of a CJC-Amcha group who jumped on the stage as Buchanan was announcing his intention to run for President on the Republican ticket in 1996. Carrying signs saying, “Pat = Duke Without the Sheets” and “Buchanan is a racist” the three were shoved, pushed to the ground and beaten while Buchanan looked on.

hey pinko, interesting stuff. i think most repubs who were dems became repubs because dems are for colored folk. curious to see who is the first to jump on this blog and justify what you’ve just pointed out. and that person will most likely be a white male.

Some of the replies are downright sickening here. You have an intelligent black man, who is for the rights of his fellow citizens. Then you have Alan Keyes, a black man against black people. It’s amusing the amount of white people who are ‘conservative’ who plan to vote for Keyes. Why is that? Does that free you up from being a racist? Thank you massa!!

And hello? Republicans stopped being like Lincoln YEARS AGO!! This new far right xian Rethuglican party has no shared ideology with Lincoln and the first Republicans. And of course he owned slaves!! Those were the times.

Damn, I really worry about the thoughts of the average person. I obviously have to. You vote Bush in for 4 more years, you deserve everything you get. And don’t come whining back when you discover that *gasp* the Repub policies actually DO affect you.

What a sad state of affairs when Bush and Alan keyes and the whole lot of slimey thugs are still neck & neck. Doesn’t say a whole lot about average intelligence.

One more thing, that slime ball Jeb Bush speaks Spanish because he is married to a Spanish woman, which does not mean he is not racist.

Over and out.
