I think the lengthy post provided by Rob unfortunately proves a trend that bothers me to no end. All too often someone (ie, Rob) who is upset about someone else's position in politics and government (ie, just about anyone posting on this page) simply spends their time belittling whoever disagrees with them, rather than providing constructive criticism and useful dialogue.

One such example is the following: "Chris Mccausland writes: u no what i just saw (NO, tell us Chris) the video of when bush was in florida and the towers were getting hit and he was in a school and some won told him america is under attica and he just sat there wile hundreds of people were dying so this is what i have to say.

I know, isn't that awful!? Why didn't he just rip off his shirt, reveal his true identity as Superman, and fly as the speed of light to stop it? Why didn't the man at least run screaming from the room?? Huh? Will someone tell me, please, why couldn't he have just picked up his tricorder and call the Justice League and have them avert disaster? I mean, seriously, they are right down the street and could have had everything right within minutes!!
Thanks Chris for your KEEN observation there."

I think Chris has every right to be upset with Bush's inaction as the Twin Towers were being bombed. I was as well. No I don't believe that Bush could have called the Justice League for help and I don't think that was Chris's intention. In that specific situation, I would have appreciated it had Bush politely excused himself from the classroom, telling the kids he had a very important Presidential matter to attend to and that he'd return as soon as he could (I'm sure they would be ok with that), and then convened with his advisors and members of the defense community to figure out just wtf was going on. If the country is under attack, I do think I would like the President to cut-short his PR moment and attend to matters of state. However, Rob simply went for some cheap-shots and contributed actually nothing to this list of posts. Much like his website, which at the moment, does not seem to have any content. However I am digressing and stooping to the level of childish name-calling that I was previously complaining about.

I also don't think that the jibes at the European folks that post on this site were appropriate at all.

I am from Detroit and during this past election, several incidents happened in Detroit as well as other cities around the country that simply disgusted me. I heard of folks being harrassed at the polls, that they were told that they would be arrested if they voted. They were turned away at the door and told that their voter-registration cards were invalid, when it was later proven that they were properly registered to vote. Some people even received bogus telephone calls that day, informing them that their polling location had moved to a different address, and those individuals were given a false address and were obviously very confused. I don't know if these ridiculous acts were by Democrats or Republicans, and it really doesn't matter. How can we pretend to set-up democracy in these occupied countries when our own electoral system has become such a farce?

We have such dismal turn-out for elections. And it can be understandable that someone wouldn't vote, because under the electoral college, it's hard to believe that your vote actually counts. Electoral votes are assigned to a state based on the number of Congressmen that state has. The reason it doesn't work is that 13 small states with a population of 18 million people have the same number of 'electors' as does California, which has 35 million voters. So not only does the electoral college fail to provide one person = one vote, but the ridiculously inefficient, unorganized, and non-uniform voting procedures and policies state-to-state as well as poll-to-poll make the election process even more farcical.

If you think I'm just whining because Kerry lost and I'm blaming it on the electoral college - I'm not. Bush received 50.7% of the popular vote, but he received 286 electoral votes. That is 53.2% of the electoral college. So obviously, the electoral college is not representative of what the public feels.

One last quibble I have is that I find it difficult to believe someone can be President of the country (regardless of party) when (in 2000) of the 203 million people who are 18 and older, only 111 million were registered and voted. That's barely half. Of the people that were registered to vote, only 86% actually bothered to vote. So that's 19 million people who were registered, but simply didn't vote! So what's scarier, the way our government behaves, or our apathetic behavior towards that government?

Rather than baselessly attack each other's opinions, I think our time and energy would be best spent making informed decisions, intelligent debates, and attacking a system that fails for both Democrats and Republicans.

Couldn't help but answer some of these:

Frankie Bishop writes: However, it's kind of lightweight as far as touching on some REAL important aspects. 2)The state of Israel and its' involvment in the Middle East.

Hmm, Frank, have you consulted a map recently? Israel is IN the Middle East. It's 'involvement' is certainly guaranteed since it resides there.

Blimp Guy whines: I found the most poignant part to be when the Congressional Black Caucus could not get even one Senator's signature (not Wellstone; not even Lieberman!) to challenge the stolen 2000 election. What more proof do you need that Dems do not actually truly really oppose Reps?

Well, Blimpy, knowing how much they tried to cover their OWN asses on election fraud, I'm sure they were worried about more then a few missing ballots might turn up. After all, it was the DEM party that practically invented mass voter fraud and you need look no further then Gore's campaign Chairman, William Daley , of the legendary voter fraud family.

V ominously writes: f911 is only the tip of the iceberg. If Bush and his gang stays in power Hitler will seem smalltime.

Owwww. We're all scared now. Please explain how putting millions of Jews into mass gas ovens can seem "small-time" in the next four years? Please tell us all how 13 million lives lost world wide can seem 'small time"
Folks, it's time V learned a little thing called RESTRAINT. Disagreeing with Bush's policies is one thing, comparing them to Hitler and remarking it'll be 'small time' is hysteria and hyper exaggeration.

Mamute writes: Greetings from Argentina. I just wanna say that here in argentina we are 100% against Bush.

100%? WE? Let me see if I get this right; You are speaking for the entire country of Argentina and you’re certain 100% are against Bush? Was there a census' taken on this? And did it really reach 100%? The reason I ask is because if what you say is true, is this REALLY the best place for 40 million people (+/-) to voice their opinion--on some low life, ignorant leftists website? Wouldn't the once great UN be a more suitable location?

R Nutt..err NorthCuff writes: I can not see why anyone with an IQ of a vegetable could say anything positive about this administration, that lies, cheats, misleads, and has messed this country and world opinion thereof beyond recognition.

Yeah, liberating 50 million people was such a terrible act. For freeing the Afghan's from having to use Soccer Fields for execution grounds and emptying the rape rooms of Iraq, not to mention squeezing in the Mea Culpa of Ghadaffi and just recently Iran, not even seven days after the election, retracting it's promise to pursue nuclear material, Bush and Cheney have done a piss poor job. To be considered truly great he'd have to send a $53 million cruise missile into an empty tent or blow up a baby food factory in the middle of Sudan, huh?

Erik gives us this tidbit: I think I speak for every dutch person, when I say BUSH HAS TO GO

Every Dutch person? Really? And who said Bush wasn't uniting the world? Why, just right here in this forum we have 100% of Argentina and every Dutch Person agreeing on something! Seriously, you should really consider renaming this site "The UN ON-LINE" with so many, many citizens of different countries being spoken for! Perhaps if Britain and Holland would chime in we could solve that nasty old Falkland Island problem and border disputes in the Nordic Circle.

Wim writes: I think when Bush goes on with further "preemptive strikes" we should leave the NATO, because the NATO has become the servant of the USA.

Pre-emption never seemed a problem when we were attacking Somalia or Bosnia, why now? OH, right, a republican in office. Almost forgot.
And by all means, leave NATO. What's that leave us with, 6,999,900 troops instead of 7 million? 360 Warships instead of 361? Seriously, what amazing military advantage does Holland bring to NATO, that, if you decided to leave, most of us would even notice?

Gill screams: Nice!! Let's get Bush out of there(
I linked you from my site http://www.snowball.be) too!

*LET'S*, Gill? Umm, I realize I will face a HUGE lawsuit from the DNC lawyers division--and I do mean division, but should we REALLY be allowing Belgium citizens to vote in our elections to remove Bush? I know this might seem a bit exclusionary, Gill, but why not leave the actual 'election process' to the Americans. We all REALLY appreciate the many, many fine contributions to the world made by Belgium’s, like waffles and chocolate, but I think maybe you should consider warming the bench on this one. Just a thought.

ScottfromBoulder chimes in: Bush's preemptive war on Iraq is just unamerican. Preemptive war based on "soft" intelligence is EXTREMELY unamerican!

Well, except when we bomb Bosnians and Sudanese baby food factories, then Pre-emption is completely understandable. Did any of you actually TASTE the baby food they were making in the Sudan? I think using the MX missile was a bit LIENIENT, on Clinton's part, in my humble opinion.
And when you say "Soft Intelligence", you mean to say eye-witness accounts, 12 years of documented discrepancies, admitted lapses by Iraqi officials, and Satellite Images were too 'SOFT'? What would be considered "Hard"--a signed and witnessed affidavit by Saddam?

And Chizzze, clearly a scholar on the matter, pipes in with this: but why isn't this in the VS, is there so much hate about the 9/11 attachs?

Exactly! 3,000 men, women and children murdered in broad daylight without warning or reason. Some with their throats slashed, some jumping 45 stories to get away from the flames, other's were merely crushed as they tried to rescue their fellow brethren, and we have to gall to act pissed?? What are we thinking? Maybe Gere was right--all the terrorists need is a little love and all will be forgiven! Everyone..GROUP HUG!!

Chris Mccausland writes: u no what i just saw (NO, tell us Chris) the video of when bush was in florida and the towers were getting hit and he was in a school and some won told him america is under attica and he just sat there wile hundreds of people were dying so this is what i have to say.

Thanks Chris for your KEEN observation there.

Seriously, a great discussion going on from the Moore fans. With this kind of KEEN intellect and such widespread knowledge, not to mention independent thought process, I might add, it’s no wonder Bush won the election. You have no doubt guaranteed Moore a steady income for the next 12-15 years, at the very least. Because even if we Americans aren’t completely convinced Bush was the Anti-Christ, 100% of Argentines and every Dutch person can’t be wrong, right?

Without a single hope that this will ever be published here, I leave you with my website, where you can view most of these tidbits and MOOoooore. LOL, get it? Mooooore…? Nevermind.

Wim writes: I think when Bush goes on with further “preemptive strikes” we should leave the NATO, because the NATO has become the servant of the USA.

Pre-emption never seemed a problem when we were attacking Somalia or Bosnia, why now? OH, right, a republican in office. Almost forgot.
And by all means, leave NATO. What’s that leave us with, 6,999,900 troops instead of 7 million? 360 Warships instead of 361? Seriously, what amazing military advantage does Holland bring to NATO, that, if you decided to leave, most of us would even notice?

Gill screams: Nice!! Let’s get Bush out of there(
I linked you from my site http://www.snowball.be) too!

*LET’S*, Gill? Umm, I realize I will face a HUGE lawsuit from the DNC lawyers division–and I do mean division, but should we REALLY be allowing Belgium citizens to vote in our elections to remove Bush? I know this might seem a bit exclusionary, Gill, but why not leave the actual ‘election process’ to the Americans. We all REALLY appreciate the many, many fine contributions to the world made by Belgium’s, like waffles and chocolate, but I think maybe you should consider warming the bench on this one. Just a thought.

ScottfromBoulder chimes in: Bush’s preemptive war on Iraq is just unamerican. Preemptive war based on “soft” intelligence is EXTREMELY unamerican!

Well, except when we bomb Bosnians and Sudanese baby food factories, then Pre-emption is completely understandable. Did any of you actually TASTE the baby food they were making in the Sudan? I think using the MX missile was a bit LIENIENT, on Clinton’s part, in my humble opinion.
And when you say “Soft Intelligence”, you mean to say eye-witness accounts, 12 years of documented discrepancies, admitted lapses by Iraqi officials, and Satellite Images were too ‘SOFT’? What would be considered “Hard”–a signed and witnessed affidavit by Saddam?

And Chizzze, clearly a scholar on the matter, pipes in with this: but why isn’t this in the VS, is there so much hate about the 9/11 attachs?

Exactly! 3,000 men, women and children murdered in broad daylight without warning or reason. Some with their throats slashed, some jumping 45 stories to get away from the flames, other’s were merely crushed as they tried to rescue their fellow brethren, and we have to gall to act pissed?? What are we thinking? Maybe Gere was right–all the terrorists need is a little love and all will be forgiven!

I know, isn’t that awful!? Why didn’t he just rip off his shirt, reveal his true identity as Superman, and fly as the speed of light to stop it? Why didn’t the man at least run screaming from the room?? Huh? Will someone tell me, please, why couldn’t he have just picked up his tricorder and call the Justice League and have them avert disaster? I mean, seriously, they are right down the street and could have had everything right within minutes!!

Mooooore…? Nevermind.
