I am my own phone company

I am in the process of becoming my own phone company. Using Voice over IP technology like Vonage and Packet 8 but doing it muself. Basically it’s just open source software called Asterisk that I have running on one of my email servers. Not only is it incredibly cheap, but I can do a lot over very cool stuff. I have total control over my inbound and outbound call routing.

I’m considering offering it as a service for friends and such. Still exploring what it’s capable of. I need a name for the business and web site (other than Perkel Telephone). Looking for ideas.

One of the things I can do is break Caller ID blocking. I’d like to test this further. So – I’m looking for someone who has a problem with a stalker who is calling you all the time harrasing you with caller ID blocked. Looking for someone who is being harrased a lot so I don’t have to wait very long to see how this works. So if you are someone who has a stalker and you want to bust them then email me and let’s set something up. You must have a telephone feature that will forward your number if you don’t answer. (no answer forwarding). I’ve tested this on Verizon cell phones and it works.

Call it Perkel{anything} and I’m in! May I suggest “perkelvoip”? Currently I use BroadVoice (not too bad) which is $23/month for unlimited inbound/nationwide long-distance, with great extras like caller-id and voicemail. I have no complaints about their service whatsoever, but I’m all about sticking it to the man. So show us the way, brother!

I have a trouble with someone who has been calling me alot lately with a “caller-id restricted” number. They call someone I know and I at the same time every night–about 4-5 times a week–And have been doing this since about December. They always stay on the line for awhile, and then hang up after about 30 seconds are so..-it differs sometimes, but they never say anything. I dont know..Its been kind of worrying me lately and I just wanted to find out who this person is.

Thanks, Lisa

Yeah i have been getting “id restricted” calls for about 3 weeks now and they have been calling about 20 times in a row and doing that about 2 times a day. it gets really annoying when i have to keep checking my phone and they call every 10 seconds pretty much. i just want them to stop and find out who they are.

This ASTERISK sounds like a great idea. I am totally sold on VOIP (currently using P****** for business and V***** for home), but when I tried to install Asterisk, it seems not only that (it) only works with Linux (which I am using) but it is not for the average Jody to install and set up. In fact, I had so much trouble that I just dropped the whole idea.

Now, if you want to set up a system or company that will help folks like me to set u and install this thing, you can count me in, not only as a client, but as a partner as well.
Wolf to me, bro
