Even if the pancake theory held, these structures would not have fallen straight down at the rate of gravity. Several experts have spoken up, including a scientist from NIST who said that the steel was certified to their standards, and could not have melted or seriously softened because of an uncontrolled jet fuel (kerosene) fire.
