Letter to the Editor
A lot of people like to ridicule people who live on the “left coast” but perhaps the response to the San Diego wildfires will change their minds about us. Although people like to think of Californians as a bunch of Pot smoking hippies, I think that we have shown the nation how to properly respond to a disaster. We didn’t wait around for the federal government to come bail us out. We were prepared. With almost no warning almost a million people were moved out of harms way. Every helped each other out. At Qualicomm Stadium they had Yoga, Meditation, food, water, supplies, grief counselors, insurance adjusters, classes for the kids, even the dogs got along. People worked with police and fire personnel and everyone took care of everyone else. I think those who would call us names and look down on us might have something to learn about who we are and how we respond to emergencies.
