America supports yet another dictator
Letter to the Editor
When will we ever learn? Pakistan is a dictatorship. The current president Musharraf took power in a coup and when their Supreme Court ruled he could not continue to serve as president he kicked them out and appointed his own Supreme Court who now agrees with him. Now after the only opposition candidate Bhutto has been assassinated he’s going on with elections, and America is backing that plan.
You would think that with our history of backing dictators that we would learn our lesson. We backed Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, the Shaw of Iran, Marcos of the Philippines, Franco of Spain, Pinochet of Chile, Somoza in Nicaragua, Salazar of Portugal, Suharto of Indonesia, Ozal of Turkey, Idi Amin of Uganda, and Zia in Pakistan who hanged Benazir Bhutto’s father. So why are we giving billions yet another time to Musharraf who we already know is yet another scumbag dictator? We know what’s going to happen, yet we keep making the same mistake over and over again.
