Letter to the Editor
The House of Representatives last week passed a 780 billion dollar spending bill. But the Senate Republicans opposed it. “It’s too expensive!”, the Republicans cry. “We can’t leave that kind of debt for our children and grandchildren to pay.” So the Republicans demanded that the Democrats scale back their stimulus plan and spend less money. So they cut our what they considered “wasteful spending” and cut the cost of the stimulus bill from 780 billion to only 827 billion. Wait a minute! 827 billion is more than 780 billion! Oh NO! They’re using Bush math! But I guess that’s good enough because no one in the legitimate news media caught it.
