Letter to the Editor
Today is a sad day as one of America’s greatest heroes passes away. dr. Jack Kevorkian will be missed as we remember hos courage and devotion to the idea that a terminally ill person has a right to choose the time and circumstances of their own death. It seems obvious to me that since everyone dies that one still does not have the right in most of America to choose to be euthanized when the suffering is too great. When we have a pet who is suffering we have the compassion to put it out of its misery. You would think it would be obvious that we would provide the same compassion for our fellow humans.
Jack Kervorian’s work will live on. Not only did he put his freedom on the line for this cause but he created a set of ethical guidelines as to when and how end of live service should be provided. Jack Kevorkian was known as Dr. Death. To me that is an honor. We need more like him. You will be remembered.
