Letter to the Editor
I was rather shocked and amazed today that the Supreme Court made the right decision in not overturning Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act. Not only did they find it constitutional, but they did so in the right way. It curtailed the expansion of government power using the Commerce Clause of the Constitution, but blessed it as a tax issue.
I’m personally OK with taxing people who can afford insurance who choose not to buy it because when they are in a car accident and need life long therapy it is people like me who do buy insurance who has to pay for them through higher insurance rates. So this tax is making people pay for their own health care costs and as a conservative I believe in personal responsibility. I’m also 56 years old and without universal health care I don’t have to worry that I’m going to lose my home the first time I get sick. And I want to thank Chief Justice Roberts for making the right decision in light of a lot of other bad decisions the court has recently made.
