Free Speech Zones - or Speech Free Zones?

Letter to the Editor

Any time Bush goes out in public the police remove all the protesters to "Free Speech Zones" - which are in a location where they can not be heard. These are not really "Free Speech Zones" but rather they create "Speech Free Zones" around Bush where free speech is prohibited.

I ask the question - can we really call America a free country when the right to speak is prohibited any place the president goes? Who would have thought that our liberties would be so suppressed and that Americans would stand by - doing nothing - and allow it to happen. Americans are unwilling to fight for the freedom to speak. Lady Liberty is dead - and Bush spits on her grave.

-----

Freedom is an illusion - no more than a slogan. America is not a free country. We have become the enemy of freedom.

I couldn't agree more... Back when I was an american, I found my speech being limited more and more to the point that I could no longer voice my personal opinions in the work place. Needless to say I was working in a very right wing environment and it was in the time of "The Empty Suit's" first run for the presiduncey...

I finally decided since my wife was a foreign national, I would immigrate to her country and live there till the country returned to it's senses. I have since become a French National, and have decided that my american citizenship is worthless.. I believe in it's constitution and bill of rights with every fiber of by being. I fought and served for 20 years for those documents and the ideas they instilled in my life.

Today I see a country of me firsts, who could care less who or what happens around them as long as they can have that extra SUV, cheap fuel, entertainment that doesn't make them think and news that is as bad as the entertainment they waste their time with.

I stayed away from the country for over 20 years, and when I returned I thought that I had walked into a modern Germany of the timeline 1937.

I am proud to be French, and ashamed that the country of my birth is now a country of dummies and sloths... Freedom seems to mean to you that you can hang flags off your vehicles, porches, trees, bushes and wear them on your lapels and this in turn makes you a patriot..

America today, is my enemy, the enemy of all I believe in and fought for. I for one will do my very best to promote the anti american feeling in the country that allowed me to keep my freedoms and beliefs and doesn't try to force me into the Reich way or the Hiway.

Of course we're "free"! Free to just drop dead and get out of the way of the affluent elite social caste running this country, that is!

Lol, thanks for the laugh. You expect me to believe you are really an american who has turned French (wait still laughing) and you promote anti-americanism because of what we have become.

First of all, good riddance. Second of all, Im glad you think that France, (with all its racism and its worl influence..lololol is the place to be).

If you were really an american with your views, you would fight for Kerry's election not race off to france.

You are an obvious french national who is bitter over the fact that the U.S. ignored your country's wishes and your government was powerless to do anything about it.
