Of course the media is grateful to Reagan because he's the one who turned media ownership over to the current right wing owners. As everyone tries to rewrite history in favor of a really sorry president, it doesn't seem to be helping the GOP hold on to power in the midst of the revelations that Bush authorized the torture and rape of children of Abu Griab - pictures soon to be released.
Finally their get the sucker into the ground and we can get back to reality.
Posted by marc at June 11, 2004 02:11 PM | TrackBackHey Mark, where can I find the full version with sound of the Berg beheading? I've got an M.A. in Russian and would like to hear if there really is Russian spoken in the video. The dirty work could have been contracted out to the Russians by the CIA.
Also, the CIA snuff video could have been uploaded from England! Hey, if it doesn't come from Al Jazeera, don't expect me to believe it. As far as I am concerned, all the other so-called terrorist websites could be CIA disinformation sites, whatever.............
I got this link from the message board at libertyforum.org

JackBlood.com Has Traced The Address Of 'Islamic Website' That Posted The Berg Decapitation Video To London, England
The Video Was Uploaded From London, Not Iraq
After several hours of research, JackBlood.com has learned the web addresses for the 'Islamic Websites' that posted the Nick Berg decapitation video. The website addresses are http://www.al-asnar.net and http://www.al-asnar.biz . Both websites have apparently been disabled by 'authorities.' The location of the web server is reportedly in Malaysia. However, the addresses of the publishers for these sites are located in London, England and Nurnberg, Denmark.
The location of the publishers for al-ansar.net appears to be at an Arab Press Building, which appears to be shared by different Arab news publications. The name of the organization is the Arab Press House. The building is apparently the headquarters for news magazines such as, Al Jamilla, Sayidaty, and Al Majallah among others.
The London address is the following:
Arab Press House
Abdel Rahman al-Rashed
184 High Holborn, WCIV78P, London
tel. 020 78318181
The other address is located in Nurnberg, Denmark. It apparently belongs to a man named Omar AbuOmar. His email address is:
alansar_alansar@hotmail.com .
The complete mailing address is the following:
Omar AbuOmar
New Dream St. 33
Nurnberg, Denmark, 42114

Your timing is off! If you want to attack him when he's alive or when president or when he's long dead, then all's fair. On the day of his funeral, then you just look bad.
Posted by: Randy Charles Morin at June 11, 2004 08:09 PMHe's not attacking Reagan, he's attacking another charade and the politics of mass distraction. Bring on more as yet unseen racist, sadistic, satanic American torture photos of taxi drivers, children, women, butchers, shop owners and other Iraqi civilians who were incarcerated by neocon facists!
Posted by: richard at June 12, 2004 12:31 AMAnd now for my softy side: Even though I disagree with his politics, even very strongly disagree about some issues, I just cannot hate Reagan as a person.
I'm not old enough to have fully understood his effect on America while he was President, but if what we hear now on TV is true, then he was a person of great personal conviction which lead him to tremendous success and happiness in both personal, professional, and political life. I can definitely admire his longevity, his relationship with his wife, his sense of humor, interpersonal charisma, etc, etc, etc. Basically, I think it's important to be able to separate personal qualities from political agenda. (Heck, I even believe that Lenin was one of the brightest minds of political science of the 20th century and that Hitler was one of the best orators.)
So, yeah, a president who served 8 years in office with such high public approval deserves this much media coverage. But when Fox News started to pull the "Dubya is a successor to Reagan's vision for America" subtext bullshit, for me it devalued Reagan (and the GOP) far more than it elevated Bush. I hope I'm not alone in this.
But, yeah, deep down, I can be a succer for all this "shining city on a hill" stuff. Scary to think ... if McCain would have been nominated in 2000, I might have ended up a Republican, driving my Escalade with an "I'm too rich to pay taxes" bumper sticker to Washington and going "yaay Reagan" ... The horror! The horror!
