Someone at Democratic Underground Met Clinton and said ...

Someone met Clinton yesterday in Santa Clara and reported tha Clinton is taking this election seriously. Let's hope it's true.

-----------------

My husband, a fellow DUer, and I met the Big Dog, the Honorable William Jeffereson Clinton, last night at a fancy, shmanzy fundraiser in California. Through contacts, we were able to gain entrance to this exclusive event of the Democratic Party elite. We dined on barbeque and enjoyed the view at a "hillrop retreat" in Santa Clara Valley.

We were interviewed by the media as we approached the grounds of the home. One reporter implied that my husband, who was carrying Mr, Clinton's book, had just bought it that morning to bring to the event. He launched into a tirade about how he'd had the book for days, and how Mr. Clinton was the best President of his lifetime, etc.

We waited out in the sun for an hour or so, eating and drinking, until the President made his appearance with Nancy Pelosi. Of course he was greeted like a rock star. I was about ten feet from him, and, if you will allow a personal comment, he was even more handsome than in phographs, and very svelte. He is really in good shape! His first move was to thank the jazz band that was playing. He shook every band member's hand and had a word with each of them. He thanked the firefighters who were manning the barbeques. Yay, firefighers!

But the President was in a serious mood, and he gave a serious speech. There were moments of humor, but the theme was urgency. He actually said that if, heaven forbid, the * wins this Fall, AND the repukes retain control of both houses again, our country will not the same. I think his exact words were "You won't recognize this great country." He ended with a plea to tell everyone we know what is happening and what is at stake in this election. He told us to talk to people in words that they can understand, and to explain to them what cuts are being made in education, health care, and after school programs just so that people like him can have a tax cut. He was particularly biting and sarcastic about tax policy and the deficit.

He made fun of the repukes selling themselves as the party of fiscal discipline. He said they were more like teenagers who had been given their inheritance too early and couldn't wait to blow it!

Brothers and Sisters, the Big Dog was serious last night. He did not smile during his speech. He KNOWS what's at stake and he was begging us to do EVERYTHING we can to stop *, and to win back the House, the Senate, or both. I'm just the messenger. Think of this man, of all he has endured and sacrificed on our behalf(knowing, of course, that he is not perfect). He is scared, and we should be, too. NOW LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

That's what I've been trying to tell all my friends. As a father and a veteran, I am very worried about the cuts that are being made to education and veteran's benefits. And please, no posts about what Clinton did. The past is the past, and let's move on, which is something the conservatives like to use a lot, unless it's blaming the death of the dinosaurs on the clinton administration. and don't pick on my spelling or grammar. just shows that you have no valid response. and unless you're in the top 2% of income earners in this country, your support for the current admnistration just baffles me.

Most people who vote for bush, arn't actualy looking at all the facts and what he is about, all they veiw is Christ-abortion-gay marraige/Guns/How their family votes those are the only issues.

It baffles me how someone could care if a gay person is getting married, if you dont like aborations dont marry a woman who will get one or dont get one yourself, and for the gun thing, its called 2nd admendment.

The other people who vote for bush are big war adicts, and love war for some odd reason, I dont get the point of killing for land/money/religion, its a waste of time/effort/money that could go to somthing better.

The 2% of the rich love him, well because they are assholes who love to own everyone and everything. I say less then .33` of everyone that supports bush, actually knows what he is about and likes him for that.

I too am a vet, and have served in the marines, and the army, and enjoyed doing so, but with this asswipe we got now, and the way all the chickenhawk don't care about the military personel that are still dying, over 850+, and what will happen when they do come home, I would'nt join if they gave me a million buck's. It really disgust me about powell, cause at one time I had the utmost respect for him, and for him to stay on, and lie for dufus and his bunch has got one message from me for all of them. It is GO FUCK YOURSELF. Sorry for the language, but everytime I hear or see them, it make's me sick at what they have done to our country, and I feel really sorry for these little kid's growing up and for what they may have to look forward too. All I can is pray, and make sure ya'll VOTE.

Yes, Bush is an idiot. Yes, the Republicans have completely screwed up the world as we know it. But looking at his book and how little truth he actually put in it about those sexual trysts we are so fond of, I hesitate to consider him a "Big Dog," as the lady calls him. I'd actually respect him a lot more if he just admitted it, told the press to go fuck themselves, and then wen't on about his day bashing the Republicans. I heard those same comments from virtually every other Democrat with a mic over the last 3 years, most of which have far more character than Clinton. The shame of it is everyone gets all excited when Clinton spouts ideas that aren't his, and if he would just admit that and give proper credit there would maybe be a stronger candidate out there to oust Dubya and the rest of his Nazi henchmen.
