Why not run our own ports?

Letter to the Editor

I have a radical idea. Why not have America's ports run by Americans? Why do we need any other government to run our ports? Are we some third world country that needs other countries to come in and take care of us?

I feel Bush and other higher ups are giving away positions to our enemies and foreign powers as a trade off for U.S. power, almost like they're giving away "shares" of the United States. Think about it, the Bush administration is in so much deep water they have to try and make up for it some how. They might as well hand the keys to the white house over next. What I see in my dreams and fears, is the U.S. is being taken over slowly and it is only a matter of time before our own country fals apart. When that happens, where are all the countries we've been supplying? They'll turn on us, stab us in the back and there goes everything. Other countries are smiling like kids in candy stores at the idea of all of this. Our guard is too low in many areas. We may have "higher security" but that means nothing. They'll just strike in other areas. Maybe like a non U.S. controlled port or something? Gee....

well, lets not get parinoid about this, Tom what you are talking about is a good point but don't you think that the idea of a constant threat and the constant "be afraid" messages are just really a front for totalitarianism I mean the amount of security that you suggest could turn us into a country like China. Which, undoubtably is our future anyway based on economic saturation and take over.
