Letter to the Editor
Republicans who under estimate the new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi do so at their own peril. Nancy is a lot sharper than your average Democrat and she is only in politics for one reason, to make America a better place. She is independently wealthy and doesn't have any favors that she has to repay to get reelected. She is a true public servant. I especially like it that her first order of business was to put Congress back on a 5 day work week. Unlike the last Congress they won't get to sit around and do nothing. Go Nancy go!
Posted by marc at January 5, 2007 08:36 AMA woman who has been married to the same man for 44 years, raised 5 children, risen to the highest office in her chosen field, and still looks like a model, hell yes Republicans should be fearful. She can do anything. It's more than time that women should take their place in America's mail-dominated government. The men have certainly made a mess of things.I'm glad she has this recognition and hope she puts the toe of her beautiful shoes right into the back seat of those ugly, old men. You GO GIRL!!
From a 73-year old, married 51 years, raised 4 children, enjoying 10 grandchildren and still working, kicking butt when needed.
Posted by: Leah at January 6, 2007 07:11 AMYes, she's a class act and will set a lovely, artful, and extremely competent example that will sharply contrast the vile truths she will expose about Bush's administration and republican members of congress. She's a tough customer but does her work with so much style and grace and elegance. You go girl!! ;)

Posted by: new guy at January 7, 2007 05:39 AMYou don't think that after "Impeachment is off the table", that Pelosi and the DEMs haven't been and continue to be extorted for Their LIVES by the Bushists? DEM stands for Damned Enablers of Miserepublicans. Of what part of unConstitutional are both parties NOT guilty?
Posted by: Vic Anderson at January 7, 2007 09:31 AMMuch as we would love to see it, Impeachment is not possible. You have to have a 2/3 majority in the Senate. Clinton's impeachment failed thereby. Taking it off the table is realistic and actually take's away the Thugs' talking point of the Ds coming in with impeachment/revenge on their minds, that it's all political maneuvering. (That's how they'd run it.)
I'm hoping the Koolaid doesn't get to Nancy. She's said to be a great networker, she'll need all of that and more, but she and all of our elected "representatives" need to hear from US, often and loud, to outshout the corporate megaphones. Love 'em or not, keep after them, lest, like little sheep, they go astray.
