Letter to the Editor
Bush and the Republicans keep saying that "we have to fight them over there because if we withdraw they will follow us over here". That's as much of a lie as the lies that got us into this occupation in the first place. The truth is that being over there has absolutely nothing to do with them coming over here at all. All we are doing is wasting our resources, killing our troops for no reason while we sit in the middle of an Iraqi civil war. We are more at risk staying there than bringing the troops home because if we are attacked here our troops are over there and there's no one to defend the homeland.
Posted by marc at February 14, 2007 02:46 PMGood points. Also, regarding "they will follow us over here" I'd like to know, how are they going to get over here? I'd like to think that the millions spent on "Homeland Security", phone taps and other invasions of privacy have done something. Or is the administration admitting that terrorists can still walk or fly right on in? Is that it, the Patriot Act and Homeland Security are complete failures?
Also, this is the exact same thing they said during Vietnam. "If we don't stop the commies the Free World countries will fall like dominos and soon they'll be knocking on our door." 5 years later they went capitalist and 10 years after that the commie bastion soviet union collapsed.
Posted by: Spock at February 15, 2007 02:56 PMUh... if they really want to come over HERE... why don't they come HERE while we are THERE?

Our Troops are being issued mouse traps
and bug bombs over here, so we don't have to battle mice and roaches over there.
We got to get out of this place, if it's the
last/first thing we ever do.
