It's the story of Bush's father being shot down in WWII and CNN is playing it over and over again. It's bad enough that they are running this propaganda in the first place - but now they are showing it several times a day - every day - over and over.
Bush is in real trouble politically and CNN is trying to prop up his sagging poll numbers by showing what a hero he father supposedly was like 50 times. Never in the history of CNN have they repeated a single story so many times. You'd think that Bush Sr. was the greatest hero of all times.
Some day Americal will have a free press again. but for now it's all Bush ads - all the time.

I have my TV turned to CNN right now, and guess who's being covered for the past hour... It's OK to air a sugarcoated documentary about an ex-president now and again, but doing it in the context of this election isn't right. And they've been looping it endlessly! And, as far as I know, there's no special reason to cover Bush Sr. at this time. His birthday was June 12th, a month ago. Most of the stuff they're airing, interviews and voiceovers and all, are old.
It looks like they're simply inventing coverage to balance things out, because there is very little else positive that they can say about the Republicans right now. The Democratic ticket is on fire, more Americans and hostages are dying in Iraq amidst protests to put Saddam back in power, every investigation is finding the Administration's military intelligence and defense strategy faulty, and their screw-ups and corruption have been predigested enough for Joe Public to appreciate them (Fahrenheit 9/11 and all).
No wonder they’re hiding in the irrelevant past. They crop out the bad and stretch out the good. What else can they do? Pray for another terrorist attack?
Hey Alex, isn't it the repubs that say it's in the past, move on, get over it? oh, unless it's favorable. but those are so few and far in between...

This truely is a religious site, where mantra counts and "reality" doesn't.
My observation has been that many people in the Top 2% are actually Libertarians or Democrats. It isn't a matter of income; it's a matter of values.
Most people in the Top 2% in America are self-made, and you don't get there without obtaining a Win/Win mentality of mutually-beneficial diplomacy that the Republicans just don't get. Most people in the Top 2% are highly educated and are thus statistically more likely to be liberal. They understand how budgets work, and know that cutting education and social services while over-bloating the military is a bad investment. Most people in the Top 2% do business and/or travel worldwide and maintain an international point of view, and they understand how Bush's foreign policy has hurt America for the long haul.
Most Republicans aren't in the Top 2%, but that's what they want and respect most in life: wealth and dominance. And they are willing to step on civil liberties, human rights, the environment, truth, and world peace to get there.

Like I don't care about Bush's bad stumbles during interviews. I don't care about his vacation time or his golf games. I don't care that his facial expressions usually range from "look at me, I'm a little boy reading a teleprompter" to the "I'm screwing you and you like it" smirk. I don't care what Wolfowitz does with his hair, how Bush pissed his pants for a few hours after the 9/11 attacks, or if Cheney makes a sailor blush.
Those things are insignificant compared to the real flaws of this Administration, and we shouldn't base any arguments on them.
Heck, (after 2-3 six-packs) I am even willing to forget all about the misdirected tax cuts, the stolen election in 2000, and the unjustified war in Iraq.
But even if you take all those things away, the Bush Administration and what it stands for are still a humungous disaster for America, and most likely the beginning of its demise.

a long time ago, in a barrio far, far, away, a friend once asked me if my parents were rebuplicans or democrats. i had no idea, so i said republicans. he said that could not be possible since we were poor mexicans. hmmmm... it did not hit me until years later. so, since then, i do not like republicans, or democrats, or politics for that matter.. it's about power, wealth. it is no longer about the people...
