* First U.S. president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view his presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

Posted by: Colin at August 21, 2004 12:10 PMnot only that, they most likely will not refute any or most of it and blame everything on clinton, or bring up what clinton did. and like i said before, i don't like clinton either, but bringing up the past and blaming everything on him does not solve anything. if anything, it just divides the country even further.
Posted by: charlie chingas at August 21, 2004 12:34 PMMarc, you are soiling the minds of are youth with this stuff. Here is my response ...
*Failing to get elected to congress is not a factor in electing a President. Governors, not congressman make the best Presidents.
*He had nothing to do with trading Sammy Sosa, who at the time SUCKED. Who knew he was going to start using steriods and filling his bat with cork.
*Set the record for most executions in the history of US. Let's start referring to executions as late-late term abortions, or abortions as early-term executions.
*Clinton had no surplus ... it was fools gold. The emperor had no clothes.
*Bush did not set the record for private bankruptcies. Presidents do not bankrupt people. Every year we have record bankruptcies because every year we have more people in the financial system. The number is relative. Clinton had eight years of record bankruptcies.
*Your stock market story is BS. The Dow made it's high in January 2000 at 11,750. It then fell to 9500 in October of 2000 (-20%). Bush got elected in November 2000, at which point the market rallied. During Bush's campaign he talked about the coming recession, it was no secret in the financial community. The recession hit as predicted. The Dow then went down to 7500 after 9/11. The NASDAQ went from 5000 down to 2200
(-66%)before Bush got elected.
*First President in decades to preside over a federal execution ... you say that like it is a bad thing. Again, just another late-late-term abortion. Bush picked up where the kids mother left off.
*Unemployment benefits do not get cut-off, they run out.
*The President does not foreclose property. This is something that banks do when you do not make your mortgage payments.
*45% increase in loss of home ownership. Don't forget the LARGEST increase in homeownership. Again, a relative number. Loss of home ownership is due to overextension on the part of the homeowner.
*These are not the highest gas prices in history. On an inflation adjusted basis gas prices are 18% lower than they were in 1991.
* dis-solving international treaties is good ... they are ALL anti-American.
*Set all-time record for the most people taking to the streets to protest one person (15 million), at the same time he set an all-time record for the amount of people who stayed home not to protest one person (6.985 BILLION).
*The wealthiest cabinet in history because we are the wealthiest America in history.
*Withdrawing from the world court is good.
*Least respected member of the UN. So what, the UN is an organization of third world dictators.
*The UN has no business inspecting our elections. We can fix them ourselves. If they want to inspect them to better learn how to do it is another thing altogether.
**First time in US history that we attacked a nation without the support of the UN and world community ... because it was the first time that we were not saving the UN and world community from getting their asses kicked. The French loved us when we stopped Hitler.
*He is not the first President to establish a secret shadow government ... there has been one since 1913.
*Enron may have been the biggest corporate failure in history and it failed under Bush's presidency, but Enron became the biggest lie in corporate history under Clinton's presidency. Clinton also took large amounts of money form Ken Lay, who slept in the Lincoln bedroom under Clinton's presidency. Ken Lay was not the biggest campaign contributor to Clinton, his was Dan Lassiter, the convicted cocaine importer. I do not like Presidents hanging out with bad business men, but it is a bit better than coke dealers.
*The economy was in a recession before Bush was elected (see early response) The DOW was down 20% and the NASDAQ was down 66% before Bush was elected. You OBVIOUSLY cut economics class too much.
Closing note: Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but don't you think that you are abusing the privilege.
Posted by: THE TRUTH at August 21, 2004 08:20 PM"Everyone is entitled to be stupid"
Indeed...but it's not what I would call a positive attribute for being president.
Unless of course you are seeking representation for your own attributes. Then, Bush is your monkey.
Posted by: Jay at August 22, 2004 02:44 AMJay, my stupid comment was directed at Marc. You must be a special kind of stupid. Maybe if Marc upgrades his sight I can insert stick pictures for you.
"C" students run the world. "A" students are so comfortable in school they never leave, they become professors. "B" students stay in school to learn from the "A" students, but by the time the "B" student gets out of school the "C" student has already set up the job that the "B" student get managing the "D" student who also works for the "C" student.
I'll take the "C" student everytime.

Posted by: Jay at August 22, 2004 08:28 AMhey truth, did you know that bush's grand pappy had business dealings with hitler during wwII? and that some of their assets were taken away for dealing with the enemy? justifiy that. and you're avid support for c students? you must be one. would you let a doctor who averaged a c in medical school operate on you? how about a dentist? lawyer? mechanic?
Posted by: charlie chingas at August 22, 2004 10:27 AMWills, I know that you are not reading this. But Perkel rantz. EVERYTHING in the REAL world is if/then, EVERYTHING. If eight years under Clinton you had record bankruptcies, and they are not his fault, how could four years of records under Bush be his.
Just to let you know something ... I AM A DEMOCRAT, but an honest conservative one. Not a bleeding heart liberal one.
I will address your first question about the budget surplus. You did not find out the facts when it existed. Listening to Larry King does not get you the facts, it gets you distorted conclusions.
Follow along.
If you made $5,000 per month and your bills were $6,000 per month you would be living under a deficit. So, one day you come home and your wife says, "Wills, we have a deficit. Our bills are $1,000 more then our income. What are we going to do?"
At which time you ask your wife, "Honey, how much is the house payment?"
"Well, Wills, the house payment is $2,500."
And you say, "Listen honey, take the house payment out of the budget. Now what does it look like?"
She would then tell you, "Wills, you're a genius, we now have a $1,500 surplus.
OF COURSE, you still owe the house payment, and your wife and you may be stupid enough to think you balanced the budget and created a surplus. Hell, half the country fell for it. The fact is that Clinton balanced the budget and created a surplus by taking Social Security out of the budget. We still owe the money, it just is not part of the budget. Clinton learned that trick from his friend Ken Lay at ENRON.
Posted by: THE TRUTH at August 22, 2004 11:19 AMJay, I do use my real name. THE TRUTH is just a moniker for the post, but if you click on the moniker I give my name. If you are new at this, left click on the moniker. Go back and read this entire post. What substance have you added? NONE. You have tried to catch Marc's goo, but you have added nothing.
You have no answers. In fact you are as much "goo catching robot" as those "ditto-monkeys" on the free republic. They do not add any substance to the original post, they just agree with the poster and call you names.
Posted by: THE TRUTH at August 22, 2004 11:25 AMhey tom, i got some goo catcher at a real cheap price! i agree with you on clinton. what i don't understand, is when somone states something about bush, they blam clinton. or vice versa? let's just hope that people open their eyes and see that there is not much of a difference betweent the two major parties. and by that, i mean that both us whatever tools neccessary to convice the public of ther s-called good intentions. like u said before, someone like kennedy and reagan would be nice about now...
Posted by: charlie chingas at August 22, 2004 11:36 AMCharlie, yes I know that Bush's grand pappy was charged with dealing with Hitler. His Pappy dealt with Noriega, the CIA, Mena Arkansas, and Clinton's state troopers. Do you see how it all ties together. Did you know that he is a direct descendant of the Delano family (as in Franklin Delano Roosevelt) which was responsible for bring opium into this country in the 1800s to give to the Chinese laborers who built tha railroads west of the Mississippi. Joe Kennedy was a mobster and a bootlegger, as well as one of the biggest stock swindlers in the history of the stock market. Who better to choose as the first chairman of the SEC.
As for the "C" average thing. Charlie, what grades did your doctor, dentist, lawyer, and mechanic get in school. You have no clue. You have never asked, because you do not care. You only care that he has the license to do the job. My doctor, by the way, graduated number one in his class at the University of Chicago Medical School.
Here is Will's lack of understanding when it comes to markets.
All time highs
DOW 11,750 (1/00) Bush not elected yet
NASDAQ 5000 (3/00) Bush not elected yet
S&P 1585.00 (3/00) Bush not elected yet
ELECTION (November, 2000)
Dow 10,602 (DOWN 10%)
NASDAQ 2500 (DOWN 50%)
S&P 1310.00 (DOWN 18%)
Day he took office (January, 2001)
DOW 10,587
NASDAQ 2500
S&P 1380.00
TODAY
DOW 10,110 (DOWN 5%) from the day he took office
NASDAQ 1400.00 (DOWN 44%) from the day he took office
S&P 1100.00 (DOWN 21%) from the day he took office.
Now let's take out the NASDAQ, as all it represents is highly priced web sites sold to the public. The NASDAQ went from 750 to 5,000 in ten years. That was the FLEECING of the American public. If you lost money in any NASDAQ stock you WERE the greater fool in the greater fool theory.
During his campaign Bush talked of the coming recession. After Bush took office it was on path to be a very mild recesion. It took the effect of 9/11 to extend the recession. I cannot stand when people say things that they know ABSOLUTELY nothing about. Wills, OBVIOUSLY knows nothing about economics.
Posted by: TOMOCIUS for Jay at August 22, 2004 01:03 PMhey wilks, i don't really think marc said that. first of all, i think it's pretty hard to hear him in this blog. second of all, he's just reprinting something that has been circulating for some time. instead of an attacke and blaming marc for what 'he' says, how about: hey marc i disagree on some points, this is what i found. then maybe someone will actually read your posts instead of just reading that attack lines and dismissing you as an ass. you do have valid points at times. but at times, they are overwhelmed by your hatred of marc, or what he posts...
Posted by: charlie chingas at August 22, 2004 04:53 PM"First President in decades to preside over a federal execution "
I just have one question--is anyone really sad that Timothy McVeigh was executed?
Besides, lets look at the dates of McVeigh's escapades. McVeigh, as we all know, was executed in June 11, 2001, about 5 months after Bush took office.
However, McVeigh was convicted on June 2, 1996 and sentenced to death on August 14 of that same year. This was into Clinton's second term. Clinton presided over McVeigh's jailtime, including the May '99 transfer to Terre Haute (where he would die) and McVeigh's December 2000 decision to waive all his appeals.
I really don't know what the point was of bringing up that Bush is the first president to preside over a federal execution. If the point was that he didn't commute the sentence, then it's flawed that you aren't going after Clinton even harder, because Clinton didn't either--which is a very wise decision, in my opinion. The fact that McVeigh -gave up- his right to stay the execution with the lengthy appeals process.
And the first half of Marc's post (or repost, since it has been mentioned that this list has existed before) isn't that convincing that Bush is a bad President--you can find a very similar list about Abraham Lincoln and all his failures before he became a President.
Oh, and Sosa was traded to the Cubs, not the Sox. That was before he was a good player.
Posted by: Mance at August 22, 2004 05:43 PMMance, I think Sammy Sosa was traded to the White Sox from Texas. It was not until later that he somehow ended up with the Cubs. But you are right about one thing ... He sucked in Texas and on the South Side. Once he ended up on the North Side he started the steriods and the corking of his bat.
As far as the list on Bush's failures go, that list could be made about anyone. The greatest guys fail more often than not. Babe Ruth is in the Baseball Hall of Fame for hitting the most home runs at one time. He hit a home run less than 20% of the times he was at bat. That means that he failed to hit a homerun more than 80% of the times at bat. Imagine that, making it to the Hall of Fame with a higher than 80% failure rate.

Posted by: Bob T at August 23, 2004 05:17 PM"dis-solving international treaties is good ... they are ALL anti-American."
Typical response from an isolationist, insular thinking American. Thankfully, your thoughts are not representative of the majority. Anti-American is it? Geez, then that means the whole international community is nothing but anti-American. Definitley the current US government should do what it likes to this world, after all, it's only Americans who count. Environment? Damn! We don't need any more trees and global warming is junk science. Missles in Space? bring them on!!! International courts for war crimes? Who needs them, Americans don't commit war crimes, they commit patriotic necessities.
Ugh!!!
Posted by: Deanna at August 24, 2004 08:27 AMInternational courts for war crimes isn't Un-American. Giving Slobodan(spelling) Milosevic FORTY-TWO years is un-American. He killed thousands and gets FORTY-TWO years.
Posted by: mance at August 24, 2004 06:56 PMDeanna, anti-treaty is not isolationist. isolationist is more in reference to anti-trade. I will trade with anyone. But the Kyoto crap was a list of things that this country had follow, but every other nation does not. Don't be stupid. Nobody is going to follow our rules and we are not going to follow anyone else's rules. Look at OPEC, they make deals and cheat each other all of the time on output. Get into the real world, honey.

Posted by: charlie chingas at August 25, 2004 01:56 PM"Geez, then that means the whole international community is nothing but anti-American. Definitley the current US government should do what it likes to this world,"
Not true, but America should not enter treaties that hold us to a different standard then those of the other people in the treaty.
"Environment? Damn! We don't need any more trees and global warming is junk science"
We may not need anymore trees. It is a fact that there are more trees in the United States today than there were 300 years ago. Global warming? That is an environmentalist illusion. If you lived this past summer in Chicago you would know it to be BULLSHIT. I haven't used my pool six times all summer. When I ask the kids if they want to go swimming they say, "It's too cold." To which I respond, "That's global warming boys." We haven't 90 degrees twice this year. Stick that global warming crap up your keester.
