This is a funny one. McCain just gave Moore a free plug. Now lots more people will see the movie. You would think the McCain would have at least WATCHED the movie before criticizing it. But Bush sucked him into giving the speech because as dumb as Bush is - he's smarter than McCain. Bush probably said "Sure John - you plug me this time an in 2008 you can be president."
What a sucker - here's the story.
Michael Moore is eating up the abuse he's been getting at the Republican National Convention. The "Fahrenheit 9/11" director is still blowing kisses to Arizona Sen. John McCain, who scorned the anti-Bush crusader as "a disingenuous filmmaker" during his speech Monday night.
"Thank you, John McCain," said Moore, who is covering the convention for USA Today. "The film's doing $120 million right now. When McCain mentions it, I have a chance to do $150 million.
"I felt bad that McCain got set up by the Bush people to comment on a film he hasn't seen," Moore told us. "Anytime McCain wants a screening, I'd be happy to do that because I think he'd like it." (McCain's camp had no immediate comment.)
So based on the broad generalization that Republicans haven't seen F 9/11 you're going to throw a tantrum? Sounds good to me.

Posted by: Wilks at September 1, 2004 07:42 PMOh, and I'd be a little worried with voters associating Michael Moore with the Democratic Party. If he's seen as the Democratic poster boy, that could turn off a lot of swing voters. You know, Michael Moore being the arrogant leftist ass that he is.

Posted by: Wilks at September 1, 2004 07:44 PMboy, i bet writing that post made you chuckle, wilks. listen child, do you know what sarcasm is? or even yet,humour-bases political sarcasm? and btw, you just proved mr. wills sarcastic post to correct. yeah, come get, boy. i bet you could set me straight... lmao
back to the post: can ask for better advertisement (free, for that matter) from any republican.
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 1, 2004 08:04 PMJohn McCain is from my home state, I thought he might of had some back bone concidering the amount of shit that Bush-hole gave him when they were running against each other, calling McCain a traitor, and poking fun at the fact that he couldnt raise his arms up past a point...I dont think they like each other, but I think the glue that binds the Repubs is this 'Moral' thing. I keep hearing this from several of my clients who are Republican, though at the end of the day I find the entire arguement about 'morality slipping in this country in the last 50 years' kind of empty, but that is why they are voting for Bush...So - when exactly were we being moral? During Jim Crow? When our government was putting smallpox virus in blankets handed out at indian agencies? Oh..I know back when there were no laws on the books about debaching ourselves or others...lynching random people, no..maybe it was when in that long ago age of 1965 Native Americans got the right to vote..The last state to hold onto a law banning interracial marriage, Alabama, voted it off the books in 2000..hmmm...I find it interesting that they want to hold on to some illusion of morality man-kind has never really been 'moral'..and that depends on who's morality we are talking about...still I think it is the common thread that binds them and ropes McCain back in...
Posted by: minervajones@hotmail.com at September 1, 2004 08:36 PMWills, how do you know that conservatives that comment on F 9/11 have not seen the movie?

You may recall, the Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas "threw out" Linda Ronstadt for her anti American stance while performing.
This caused Michael Moore to send a strong letter of complaint to the President of the Aladdin.
Here is his letter, and the reply from Mr. Timmins' Response to Michael Moore's, "Open Letter to Bill Timmins, President Aladdin Casino and Hotel"
As you most likely know, Michael Moore posted the following letter:
After the letter, you will find the response... PLEASE READ MR. TIMMINS RESPONSE. IT IS EXCELLENT.
Bill Timmins
President Aladdin Casino and Hotel Las Vegas, NV
July 20, 2004
Dear Mr. Timmins:
I understand from the news reports I've read that, after Linda Ronstadt, one of America's greatest singers, dedicated a song to me from your stage on Saturday night, you instructed your security guards to remove her from the Aladdin, which they did.
What country do you live in? Last time I checked, Las Vegas is still in the United States. And in the United States, we have something called "The First Amendment." This constitutional right gives everyone here the right to say whatever they want to say. All Americans hold this right as sacred.
Many of our young people put on a uniform and risk their lives to defend it. My film is all about asking the questions that should have been asked before those brave soldiers were sent into harms way.
For you to throw Linda Ronstadt off the premises because she dared to say a few words in support of me and my film, is simply stupid and Un-American.
Frankly, I have never heard of such a thing happening. I read that you wouldn't even let her go back up to her room at your hotel! Are you crazy?
For crying out loud, it was a song DEDICATION! To "Desperado!" Every American loves that song! Sure, some people didn't like the dedication, and that's their right.
But neither they nor you have the right to remove her from your building when all she did was exercise her AMERICAN right to speak her mind.
Of all the things that go on in Las Vegas, this is what creates the need for serious action? What about the other half of the crowd at the Aladdin who, according to the Las Vegas Sun, cheered her when she made her remarks? Did you throw them out, too?
I think you owe Ms. Ronstadt an apology. And I have an idea how you can make it up to her -- and to the millions of Americans you have offended.
Invite her back and I'll join her in singing "America the Beautiful" on your stage.
Then I will show "Fahrenheit 9/11" free of charge to all your guests and anyone else in Las Vegas who wants to see it.
Mr. Timmins, as the song "Desperado" says -- "Come to your senses!"
How can you refuse this offer? I await your reply.
Yours, Michael Moore Director, "Fahrenheit 9/11"

Attention: Michael Moore,
In response to your letter dated July 20, 2004: You are correct that I had security remove Linda Ronstadt from Aladdin Casino and Hotel where the fun never ends and everybody wins.
How very interesting to learn you are such a fan of Ms. Ronstadt. You questioned where I live and surprisingly knew Las Vegas is in the United States. You should visit it sometime. There are thousands of wonderful 'All You Can Eat' buffets.
There are also a lot of casinos who's owners don't **** around. I am aware of the First Amendment and you have the right to talk about your hatred of America but once you are on my property and you are upsetting my guests, you will quickly learn about my rights.
I can't remember if it was Jesus or George W. Bush that said, "Freedom is a two-way street." Ms. Ronstadt learned this long before I had her thrown out of my casino. You question my actions? If you come onto my
property and upset my guests, you will receive the same, if not worse, treatment than Ms Ronstadt received.
I am sure your mere presence would upset my guests.
You claim your film, "...is all about asking the questions that should have been asked before those brave soldiers were sent into harms way."
I think your film does nothing but aid the enemy and hurt our troops.
You have betrayed our troops, our leader, and America. I have no respect for you or your vision of what America should be.
I paid Ms. Ronstadt to entertain my guests, not divide them. The half that did not leave probably thought the verse you mentioned, "Why don't you come to your senses" was addressed to you. Maybe she should have dedicated her song, 'You're No Good' to you. I would have asked her back, had she done that.
Regarding your request for me to apologize to her, have you and her on my stage singing anything about this Country and then playing your piece of **** film is ludicrous!
One of my workers is currently throwing away every complaint letter from brainless followers of you, claiming they will never visit my Casino. I could not be more pleased to know my casino and hotel will always be void of the kind of people who support you. Meanwhile, my hotel has been quickly booked solid for the rest of the year with true Americans who love this Country and support our efforts overseas.
They will see a framed copy of your letter and my response in the lobby to ensure they begin their experience with a laugh.
Sincerely,
Bill Timmins
President Aladdin Casino and Hotel Las Vegas, NV
hey tom, next time post a link. and minerva, i myself being of native blood (aztec/purepeche), i have never really seen the moral fabric of man, or mostly, white man. the reason why all us colored folk and woman are somewhat free to today is because some LIBERAL minded person spoke up about the atrocities that WHITE MEN were conducting. As far as I am concerned any respect I had for McCain or Dole went out the door when they sold their soul to the bush family. it's a shame when people vote party over principal. it's a damn shame. long live the sheeple.... bah..

Damn morality issues, hipocritical republican once again making his point by cussing and showing how much of a moron he is, the last time I checked that casino isnt big, its one of the smallest there, and las vegas is always packed so for him to say that his place was packed is "ludicrous". Also I love how after micheal moore proved his movie isnt anit-amrican, and neither is linda, bill said that they were both anit-amrican.

Posted by: Joshua Gillogly at September 2, 2004 01:41 PMWow Chingas, I thought it was pretty clear I was being sarcastic. I find it friggin' hilarious you're criticizing me b/c you think I didn't get Wills's sarcasm, when you totally spaced the fact that I was being facetious. Before you attack someone, make sure you aren't doing the very thing you're complaining about. It kinda makes you look like a moron.
Posted by: Wilks at September 2, 2004 03:35 PMi dont usually post, but when i see some false info, i figure someone has to show them its false.

Posted by: charlie chingas at September 2, 2004 10:21 PMHey Bum, thanks of the information. At least the people that were there did the right thing ...
***some of the 4,500 concertgoers present walked out of the theater, while other more unruly patrons tore down concert posters and threw their drinks into the air.
Not sure about throwing their drinks in the air, that could be alcohol abuse
Yes Chingas, I know what sarcasm is. Hence my use of it. I love how when you don't have a valid point to make you resort to personal attacks and name-calling. Keep it up. (That last one would be sarcasm)

Posted by: Wilks at September 3, 2004 02:33 PMwilks your weak, suck it up, and take it like a little girl like u are, your tryin to turn it around and everyone knows it, just stop.
Posted by: Joshua Gillogly at September 3, 2004 03:04 PMWow guys, if you don't have any legitimate points to make, why is it that you resort to a personal attack? I may be younger than most of you, but atleast I can act like a grown-up. I guess that just goes to show you how well the issues are actually presented by you liberals. How can't we agree with people who resort to gay innuendo, personal shots, and low-brow jokkes? I guess we'll never know.

Posted by: Wilks at September 4, 2004 12:25 PMSee there you go again, trying to turn it around, what is your problem man?
Posted by: Joshua Gillogly at September 4, 2004 04:19 PMPoor McCain. Who would have thought that he would end up as Bush’s trained toy dog? If Bush tells him to say or do something, no problem master Bush, I am your obedient dog.
