Letter to the Editor
Zell Miller gave a hell of a speech except that it is based on a false set of facts. After all the chest pounding is over, the fact is that America is not safer because we went to war with Iraq. Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 or terrorism. The 9-11 terrorist was Osama bin Laden and he's still free and safe. There were no weapons of mass destruction. We went to war based on a lie and the rest of the world knows it. Bush and Cheney lied and Americans died because we sent our soldiers to attack the wrong enemy.
It takes more than just raw aggression to win the war on terror. You have to have a little wisdom so that when you start a war - you correctly identify the enemy. I too believe that we need to be aggressive on the war on terror - but - let's not waste out military capital by going to war with the wrong guy. We need a president who isn't more loyal to the Saudi Royal Family than he is to the 9-11 survivors. And I find it amazing that a war hero like Kerry has to defend himself for the attacks of draft dodgers over his military record. We need someone who will fight smart and not just fight hard - and Bush is not smart.
Your absolutely right. Bush knows that Iraq is not where we should be. I thought we were looking for Osama bin Laden? Guess not. This is a man who likes to criticize Kerry for flip-flopping. He's been flip-flopping for the past 4 years."Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction".Then its "We were wrong about weapons of mass destruction". "We can win the war on terror". Then " I dont really think you can win a war on terror". Countless Americans and innocent civilians such as the 12 Nepalese hostages, Nick Berg, etc. have died for nothing. Bush feels no remorse for what hes done and I can guarantee to all of you that vote Bush for president again will regret it. I'd like to see the looks on your faces when he says the draft is coming back and he takes your children and puts them in the middle of a $hitstorm. 50/50 chance they'll live. Lets see how patriotic you are as you see your child walk away never even knowing if you'll see them again. The draft is certainly not impossible. OR we could have another terrorist attack that would make 9/11 seem like a warmup exercise. Our presence in Iraq is NOT making anything better. We are only making more enemies. We are not safer by any means. What will it take to make people realize that 9/11 was a wakeup call for all Americans to show that we are not as powerful as the media would have us think. 9/11 proved that. And Bush sending the soldiers over to Iraq to Capture Saddam was for what? Nothing.Zilch.Nada. It's only gotten worse since his capture. We shouldve never went to Iraq. How would you like it if Saddam said" Your President is not fit to be president." Then days later they sent Fighter Jets over our heads and bombed us all till we were vapor? This is how they feel. Innocent children and people being slaughtered for nothing. Its only increasing their hatred for us and recruiting more members for a new terror strike. Say what you may about my post but Im simply speaking my mind. BUSH MUST GO.
Posted by: UrockMarc at September 1, 2004 11:30 PMNot only should Bush go but he should also be tried for war crimes on humanity. Bush should be made an example to potential presidetial candidates worldwide. Its unacceptable in this day and age for one man to have so much power and be able to use it against humanity in this way.
At the very least he should be impeached.
URockMarc, "Its only increasing their hatred for us and recruiting more members for a new terror strike."
But, they are not terrorist
Posted by: tomocius at September 2, 2004 05:51 AMseek justice, and terror will end.the buck does not stop at bush only, need new nuremberg trial.
chargesheet:murder and killing of children.and i second marios,sentiments
Listening to the speeches last night I couldn't help but think of how strong Bush was when he continued to read MY DOG SPOT in a Florida Classroom.
With 4 more years of Bush, the speech last night by Cheney, would lead me to beleive we will need to go to war against Syriah and North Korea next.
The speech about the coalition was a joke. Where was the mention about the Spanish Train bombing, (the result of siding with the US in its war with Irag). I also noted how the night of the speech how IRAN was going forward on its Nuclear program.
If you ask anyone on the street of Iraq if they think the US soldiers there are Occupiers or Liberators I think we all know what the answer is.
i still can't see, with all that's been going on, how anyone can support bush. especially if you're kid was sent to die in a useless war. a bit of history for you all. Jihad: the original meaning was 'Holy Struggle', which came up during the past sometime, Crusades I believe, convert or kill. anyhow, a man by the name of Saladin repelled the Christian invaders. Bot you know those pesky christians. our god is the ONLY true god. BELIEVE OR DIE!!! anyhow, slowy the nomads of those lands banded together in the name of allah and for the next few years or so, their hatred for christianity grew. so, they started to hate the western world. this confused modernization with westernization. so anything modern (TVs, things like that) are shunned today. The hatred of these people goes back many, many, many years. if anyone's to blame, blame christianity. seems bush is just trying to finish what they started.
on another note? why the war on terror? what not the war on terrorism? next, it'll be the war on horror.. just wait, that'll be the reason we invade iran...
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 2, 2004 09:20 AMSome U.S. citizens want the U.S. to wage a war of conquest and drag back slaves for them to rape. I'm not kidding. Deep down, there are some twisted individuals out there who can't be honest enough with themselves to admit that they are Nazis at heart.
Posted by: dancho at September 2, 2004 02:43 PMit is a great shame. i saw some quotes that he said about kerry just a few years ago. now he's turned whore. one day he praised kerry as a hero, the next he's sucking the gop teat...
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 2, 2004 10:22 PMAnyone could switch sides like that if they came to sort of rationale that they had been wrong in supporting who they originally did. One example that I've heard elsewhere is Campaign Finance Reform - McCain Finegold (or whatever its called), which has come to focus due to the apparent loopholes that 527 groups with the aid of the political parties exploit. People may have originally thought that legislation was good, but then something convinced them they were wrong. Another example: The war in Iraq. Some people supported the actual invasion at first, only to switch sides, and others have opposed the war only to switch to supporting it because of shift of perception on the matter.
