I think Bush is in for a bigger fight than the Republicans realize. Here it is 30 minutes later and he's taking Bush on big time. Good to hear him bring this back from the GOP fantasy to reality.
they've been saying that kerry has something up his sleeve. i hope he does. and we ALL know he's smarter than monkey boy. i dare anyone to come up and say that monkey boy is smarter than kerry. just listen to the two talk. monkey is better understood by the brainwashed folk in the bible belt and in the appalachian mountains... yeah, i'm pissed...
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 2, 2004 10:28 PMSome great Kerry quotes: "I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could've and who have misled the nation into Iraq."
"The vice president even called me unfit for office last night, I guess I'll leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation than two tours of duty."
"Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead this nation. Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting 45 million Americans go without health care makes you unfit to lead this nation"
"Letting the Saudi royal family control our energy costs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Handing out billions of government contracts to Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit"
"That, my friends, is the record of George Bush and Dick Cheney -- and that only begins to scratch the surface."
---
Steve Schmidt, a spokesman for the Bush campaign, called the speech "another example of John Kerry trying to divide America over the past."
"The contrast between the president's hopeful, optimistic vision for the future that is laid out in his acceptance speech versus John Kerry's politics of anger and pessimism will be totally clear to the American people," he said.

hypocrite (N): a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold
The hopeful, optimistic vision for the future that Bush's campaign portrayed in the Swift Boat ads? Hilarious.
Since when the hell are things that happened DURING BUSH'S TERM in the past? Jesus. I don't get it, I just don't get it.

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/189223_opposition03.html
Zogby.com results say that Kerry can take away 1 in 5 voters from Bush if he talks about a bold stemcell research proposition.
Kerry knows about this poll result.
I think this is the ace that Kerry has up his sleave. And I also think he has saved it until after the repug convention.
He can use that ace too... because everybody knows it's always best to be the last in a list of speakers, because people will remember you best this way.
Posted by: Jay Renegade at September 3, 2004 08:08 AMi hope so. he hasn't been instillig confidence in his fellow democrats lately. another way kerry can come out on top: the debates. does anyone really think bush, in a FAIR debate, can overtake kerry? I think not...
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 3, 2004 08:31 AMYou guys OBVIOUSLY like smoking, here smoke some of this.

Posted by: tomocius at September 3, 2004 08:58 AMSaw your letters to the editor in the Daily T-C email box (I work there, when I'm bored I read the "opinion" email). Good to see another CO resident who's fed up with our Red State Status . . .
Posted by: Vestalvespa at September 3, 2004 10:34 AMhey tom, that's just ONE of many polls taken. So as long as the polls lean towards bush, you agree/believe them? aol. that says it all. it's like fox news having its 'own' official poll. we all know how that one will look...
Posted by: charlie chingas at September 3, 2004 10:43 AMIt just so happens that Kerry is leading in all polls that are followed by a guy named JohnBinJ on the offtopic forum over at hairsite.com. The polls that are tied have Kerry ahead within error margin.
Too bad though that many doubters are leaning towards Bush, instead of towards 'the new guy'. That's how it's supposed to be, ya know. At least, that's what history tells us.
Posted by: Jay Renegade at September 3, 2004 12:13 PMTom: i thought that was a joke... look at the tracking... the votes are almost exact mirrors of each other... like bush won every state but 2... yea right...
Posted by: BumontheRun at September 3, 2004 01:27 PMalso, u cant vote... y?
Posted by: BumontheRun at September 3, 2004 01:28 PMhe can vote, and he will vote republican, he just tries to hide himself as a moderate so he doesnt get his ass raped everytime he comes on this site, and i think its funny.
Posted by: Joshua Gillogly at September 3, 2004 02:59 PMThe election is far from decided, despite what some of these polls say. I doubt the validity of polls because it is of just 1,000 people and the data could easily be fabricated or manipulated for show.
As for Kerry's speech, I doubt few heard it last night except on the West Coast given the time it came and how that wasn't probably carried on the major networks. Its nice to see him fight back, but, its being heavily overshadowed by Hurricane Frances, The Russian school shootout and the Clinton heart problem. I have had MSNBC on all afternoon and I have not heard one word about it (though I haven't been paying attention the whole time, either).
He needs to be aggressive for much longer than just one night, he needs his own controversial Anti-Bush ad to get coverage by the TV media for weeks (ideal but fat chance given how Pro-Bush the TV media seems to be).
He needs to stir a shit storm and burst the bubble of the boy in the bubble if he's to have a hope of winning -- and carry that aggressiveness into the debates.
Posted by: Shadow Hawk at September 3, 2004 03:59 PMI would be glad to look at any poll. Post the one from the Democratic Underground, I will look at it. But, AOL is hardly Fox News. Unless you guys are going to know tell me that AOL is a conservative ISP. A couple of you kids are mopes. I'll tell you what, the only poll that really matters is the poll taken on election day. I will bet anyone of you, any amount, that on November 3rd Bush will still be the President.
A liberal would not recognize a moderate if he ever saw one.
Hey Joshie, you posted last week that when the Kerry daughters were getting boo'd at the MVAs that it was actually the Bush daughters on the mega tron that were getting boo'd. BIG TIME WRONG. Stay off that farm grown hemp. The Kerry daughters got boo'd during their speech, the Bush girls were on after the boofest was over. Just watch the the rerun of it.
