What is it like to be brainwashed?

This is what it's like. Here's a moonie that wrote me. This person has no idea she's brainwashed. Note - according to her - the Moonies are Republicans. Something I've known for years. Moomies hate paragraphs.

I get a lot of Moonie email like this and they all say I have no right to speak. I say - fuck them. Here's the letter. What do you think?

-------------------

Hello. I just wanted to comment on your sight. I happen to know more about some of these religious organizations more than you do. In fact a lot more. I was searching the web (curiously) wondering what kind of things are said about "moonies" on the web. I happened to come upon your sight, which I think is (to say the least) very one sided. You may be a democrat, but that gives you no right to criticize a religion just because they are republicans. I have attended more organizations with the Unification Church, than I believe many have. Let me just say that, you've only heard half of what is said about the Unification Church and Theology. Let me tell you, Rev. Sun Myung Moon is definately not trying to "take over the world." Let me also ask you, have you ever even heard ANY of the Unification Theology? If so, I doubt you would be so negative about this religion. You have no idea how amazing this man is. You have absolutely NO idea how much heartache and suffering this man has gone through, to change the world, little by little. For example, did you know that he spent years and years in prison, being tortured immensly, with 1 cup of rice a day, and that he couldn't bare to watch the other prisoners starve, so he gave his tiny little cup to the others, and starved himself. Did you know that, when he was 16 he received a revelation from Jesus Christ Himself and spent many tearfilled days pondering over this revelation. Rev. Sun Myung Moon is not and evil villain trying to obtain the world. He is simply a humble man striving for world peace. You may think that I'm "brainwashed" and that Rev. Moon has me under "his spell" but let me just say that, if the world is so dumb as to ignore Our Savior once again then this world will surely parish. I have so much more that I want to share with you, and to spread my knowledge about Rev. Sun Myung Moon, but that would take me a month. I just wanted to say that, you shouldn't try to "brainwash" people, and make them think that "moonies" are "brainwashing" people. You should be mature enough to let everybody else in the world ponder on their own, and let them decide which path to take, and which religion to believe in. I just want to leave you with the Unification motto, "Live for the sake of others." Sincerely: Amy Shank

And Marc Perkels don't like correcting spelling. :P

What was that slogan again? Lie for the sake of Moon?

Shanks a lot, Amy. You're not brainwashed one bit. It appears you bought the bullshit wholesale, and being brainwashed implies that you were coerced into thinking this crap.

I'm also immensely impressed by the grammatical and spelling errors. This world WILL surely PARISH, not perish, if lonnie moonies like you are given the time of day.

when I was 18, I was given a revelation by our Lord and Savior JC, too - he told me that assholes like Moon who try and speak for him are going to go to the hell they so righteously deserve. Hope you likes it hot, Shanker...

Methinks Amy needs to adher to the "Live for the sake of others" and not try to proselytize Church of Reality thinkers. We are free thinkers and object to forced faith, works or otherwise.

lol, JC sucked my cock, so whos your new savior now!

Just because someone says somthing doesn't mean you need to believe it AMY. IE church, Media, your mom

JC sucked yer cock....? Once again you demonstrate the intellect and maturity this forum is becoming known for.

I'm sure your mother would be proud.

You guys are so sophmoric it's sickening. If you think Amy's screwed up in the head then why don't you either try to help her or at least feel bad for her. Instead you all just salivated at the opportunity to attack some fresh meat.

Congrats!

Why don't you just go kick your dog, then you could feel really superior.

Amy Shank: "Hello. I just wanted to comment on your sight. I happen to know more about some of these religious organizations more than you do. In fact a lot more."

Interesting assertion Ms. Shank. Do you have any proof to back up your claim of superior knowledge concerning said organizations?

Amy Shank: "I was searching the web (curiously) wondering what kind of things are said about "moonies" on the web. I happened to come upon your sight, which I think is (to say the least) very one sided."

Did Marc make any claim that he intended to be fair and impartial? He adovcates HIS side. At what point did you start having expectations that he would do anything other than what you yourself have done Ms. Shank? Your message is clearly advocating YOUR side, which is very one sided of you.

Amy Shank: "You may be a democrat, but that gives you no right to criticize a religion just because they are republicans."

The only "rights" that anyone has are the rights that they take for themselves. For example: your religion sucks. I think your religion sucks because pigs don't grow wings. I have the right to criticize your religion because I've taken that right for myself, and I do so because pigs don't grow wings.

Welcome to reality.

Amy Shank: "I have attended more organizations with the Unification Church, than I believe many have."

That's not saying much is it? I'm willing to guess-timate that "many" have not attended even a single organization with the Unification Church. If you've attended even one event, then you've attended more than "many". Which "many" are you talking about exactly? Many of all people? Many Christians? Many Republicans? Many Democrats? Many Americans? Many Australians? You should be more clear when you are trying to establish your own basis of authority.

Amy Shank: "Let me just say that, you've only heard half of what is said about the Unification Church and Theology."

If Marc has heard half of what is said about the Unification Church and Theology, then he probably knows more about that church and its theology than "many" of the people who actually attend it. I doubt, however, that either Marc or you know even the half of it. :)

Amy Shank: "Let me tell you, Rev. Sun Myung Moon is definately not trying to "take over the world." "

I guess you're one of those lucky few who have access to the newest mind-reading device that has allowed you to peak into the absolute inner thoughts of Mr. Moon. Personally, I think only Mr. Moon knows for certainty what Mr. Moon's agenda is. We unfortunate unlucky few that have no access to mind-reading devices will just have to take reality as it comes and do our best to find the correct interpretation of people's motives.

Amy Shank: "Let me also ask you, have you ever even heard ANY of the Unification Theology? If so, I doubt you would be so negative about this religion."

Well, I can't speak for Marc (just like you can't speak for Moon), but I myself have indeed heard some of Unification Theology. We can just brush aside for now that there are multiple branches of theological thought even within the Unification church and stick to your concern: you may lay your doubts aside, I have heard some of the theology and I am negative towards the religion after having done so.

Amy Shank: "You have no idea how amazing this man is."

How amazing this man is, is a subjective assertion. It could not be proven regardless of what ideas you or Marc have about him.

Amy Shank: "You have absolutely NO idea how much heartache and suffering this man has gone through, to change the world, little by little."

It would be dishonest for anybody to claim knowledge of the subjective suffering experienced by somebody else. Marc can't objectively do it, and neither can you. The real question is, if Mr. Moon is trying to change the world little by little, are those changes that I want? Based on what I know of Mr. Moon (which you can choose to judge inadequate despite your lack of knowledge about me if you wish), his changes are not changes that I want to have happen. I think it will lead to a world that is bad for me, my family, my friends, my children, and just about everybody that I conern myself with.

Amy Shank: "For example, did you know that he spent years and years in prison, being tortured immensly, with 1 cup of rice a day, and that he couldn't bare to watch the other prisoners starve, so he gave his tiny little cup to the others, and starved himself."

And I stubbed my toe this morning. What's the point?

Amy Shank: "Did you know that, when he was 16 he received a revelation from Jesus Christ Himself and spent many tearfilled days pondering over this revelation."

That IS amazing. When I was 16, I received a revelation from Jesus Christ Himself and spent many tearfilled days pondering over that revelation too! Finally, with much prayer and supplication, after a month of fasting, and after confirmation visits from the angels Gabriel and Michael, I accepted it. Jesus Christ Himself told me in that revelation that Sun Myung Moon is the false prophet, the anti-Christ of the Book of Revelation, who has come to wage war against God's Holy People.

Amy Shank: "Rev. Sun Myung Moon is not and evil villain trying to obtain the world. He is simply a humble man striving for world peace."

Ah, the lies of devil are a terrible web indeed. Look how well they have ensnared you.

Amy Shank: "You may think that I'm "brainwashed" and that Rev. Moon has me under "his spell" but let me just say that, if the world is so dumb as to ignore Our Savior once again then this world will surely parish."

And if you are so dumb as to fall prey to Mr. Moon, then you will perish with it. It is inevitable that the world will perish. As it is written: 'Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.' Rev. 21:1

If you believe the world will not perish Ms. Shank, then you are in direct contradiction with God's Will as written in the Holy Bible, in the Book of Revelation, given through the Seer John by Jesus Christ Himself.

You appear to be on the wrong side of the war Ms Shank.

Amy Shank: "I have so much more that I want to share with you, and to spread my knowledge about Rev. Sun Myung Moon, but that would take me a month."

Jesus died for you Amy, can't you be bothered to give a month for Marc? In view of the crucifixion, is a month so much to ask for?

Amy Shank: "I just wanted to say that, you shouldn't try to "brainwash" people, and make them think that "moonies" are "brainwashing" people."

Specifically, which brainwashing techniques is Marc employing?

Amy Shank: "You should be mature enough to let everybody else in the world ponder on their own, and let them decide which path to take, and which religion to believe in."

And yet, the Unification Church publicizes itself much more than Marc does of himself. Which do you think people are more likely to come across, Mr. Moon, or Mr. Marc? Which of the two evangelizes more? Which of the two have a greater presence on the internet? Which of the two show up more in the media? Marc has not, to the best of my knowledge, ever made any indiction that he intends to try to force people to agree with him. His efforts at reaching people with what he believes to be the truth are no more than the efforts made by the Unification church. He is no more guilty of trying to influence people than they are.

Amy Shank: "I just want to leave you with the Unification motto, "Live for the sake of others.""

And I will leave you with this motto: Live for whatever you want, it's your life to screw up as you please; but don't expect me to join you in the shithouse if that's where you choose to go.
